So, my doctor (Dr. Brock) said 3-5 times a day for 5 minutes. Dr, Paul Perito said 2-3 times a day for 20 minutes each

Both say to do this after they have inflated their implant. :)

I may be wrong but I don't think any of the questions posed in this thread were by implanted guys.

I second bldoink's advice.

I pumped (before my implant) my vacuum as much as I could stand (I was encouraged by the size I was getting). Then one day, I got edema. Alarming. It looked like a blister on my penis, so I asked advice here and was reassured by the answers I got and the research I did on the subject. A few days of not vacuuming resolved the swelling and I continued on with only one (milder) episode.

My pump did not have a gauge on it to show the amount of vacuum I was pulling, so I used the length markings on my cylinder as a gauge in addition to my sensations.

The day I got the first edema, I was pumped up 3/4" longer than ever before. I was gladdened until I saw what I had done to myself. But it did show what was possible. However, I suspect much of that increase was due to pulling my penis' base further into the V.E.D.'s bottom.

the size I was getting

I pump because when I do, I get morning wood the next morning. In addition, I pump for sex twice a week and use restriction bands.

I do NOT pump to increase size. That is a sure way to do harm.

I beg to differ on that last sentence.

More power to you on your pumping encouraging a natural morning wood. Great news. A fair sign that your tissues are not atrophied or otherwise degraded. Might respond to pharmaceutical treatments, maybe? Not for sure but might be preferable to the bands if drugs are otherwise tolerable. I myself could not tolerate the restriction bands.

VED use to increase size is unlikely to succeed, but regaining recently lost size is possible, as well as preventing future size loss. This is documented in peer-reviewed medical journals and ratified by my own experience.

About that last sentence:

Certainly, over-enthusiastic use of a V.E.D. WILL cause harm - even irreparable harm. But it is not SURE to do so if the user does not abuse the device/himself. I would not want to discourage anyone from avoiding the V.E.D. unnecessarily. The V.E.D. can provide benefits which are also documented in peer-reviewed medical journals and ratified by my own experience.

You can't get my point if you just pull the last sentence out of context! Note the one right before started with 'I'.

Maybe I should have been more specific. Pumping is extremely unlikely to increase penis size beyond that your genetics have given you and more likely to cause harm if misused.
About YOUR last sentence.
I would never, knowing discourage anyone, male OR female, from using a pump.. It does add benefits and I can give long, personal testimony to those benefits for both my wife and I. My experience has been that the V.E.D. is a subset of penis pumps and the two I use seem to be self-limiting in the amount of vacuum they can produce. The latter is true both for the manual and electric pumps. That is NOT the case for a lot of pumps sold for the stated purpose of penis enlargement.
Might respond to pharmaceutical treatments, maybe? Not for sure but might be preferable to the bands if drugs are otherwise tolerable

Maybe!? I much prefer a V.E.D. with the bands to the side effects and cost of pharmaceuticals.

I would vigorously argue against leaving your dick under vacuum for twenty minutes unles you are trying to increase the girth of your dick. 20 minutes under vacuum will generate a lot of edema and reduce sensitivity.

When pumping for an erection in a VED, 5 minutes should be the max. I am well conditioned, so I only need a minute or two.

I would agree. It could be that the doctor, if he was understood correctly, was suggesting a 20 min period of repeated pumping and releasing rather than a 20 min period under vacuum. But then I'm not a doctor or a moderator so what do I know.

As I said... the direction to pump until the VED is comfortable BUT one more squeeze of the bulb will not be comfortable and leave it for 20 minutes came from DOCTOR PAUL PERITO.

DOCTOR PAUL PERITO.

Doctors are, after all, fallible human beings. If a Doctor, DOCTOR PAUL PERITO for example, gave me the advice he gave you, I would suggest he get a penis pump for himself and follow his own advice until our next visit.

Things may be different right after an implant, but this thread wasn't originally about implants and rehab from the surgery.
