my 35 dollar rechargeable is great, has lasted 4 years, try to get to it twice a month just to maintain size. Doesn't pull extremely hard so I feel its pretty safe, another issue is pubic hair, I don't shave with a little hand location around the base gasket it seals just fine, so no need to shave inless you are inclined to do so. I like my bush. :)
