Penis darker when using compression ring

I have noticed that after I pump and place compression on ring to masturbate, my penis is darker than normal. I don't leave ring on more than about 20 minutes. Take ring off, and color turns to normal.. Is this OK?

Bobsk8, I have been using a VED with rings for probably around 5 years - maybe even longer. I also notice that my penis is darker - maybe purple-ish in color most all the time. I'm not a doctor, but logic tells me that it is due to the blood being trapped in the shaft by the rings acting as a dam. I do watch the clock and usually remove the rings within about 25 minutes - sometime sooner. Hope this helps....

Much the same as what Alan810 said. I did a lot of VED pumping with compression rings pre implant. Yes my penis would also go much darker, purplish.
You are retaining blood within the corpora but also restricting blood flow in and out in order to keep the erection.
As long as you don't leave it on for an excessive amount of time it should be fine. About 20 minutes max. seems to be the usual advice. TBH I would often go to 30 minutes. If only pumping for penile rehab/size restoration I would use one of those small kitchen timer devices to remind me of when time is up. Be mindful if using pump/ring for sex, it's easy to lose track of the time . Also don't use a ring that is so tight that it cuts off all circulation and makes your dick numb.
