For anyone researching pumps specifically for ED rather than
enhancement — the clinical distinction between hydro and air
pumps is worth understanding before you buy.
Water-based pumps distribute pressure evenly across the shaft
which reduces the risk of bruising and uneven engorgement that
air pumps can cause. They are the same mechanism used in
medically-prescribed VEDs.
I put together a detailed guide on this specifically for ED use
at alphamalezone.com/does-bathmate-work-for-erectile-dysfunction/
— covers the clinical evidence, which ED types respond best,
and how long a realistic timeline is.

Re: Which ED types respond best
I had a Bathmate about 17 years ago. At that time, after taking the device off, I could maintain an erection long enough to apply a tension ring. The Bathmate stopped working after a year or so.
I eventually needed to apply a tension ring before releasing pressure and removing a pump. I purchased a standard non-water medical pump with tension rings.
Can any of the Bathmate pumps hold a tension ring, for those men who need to appy one before removing the pump? If not, they will likely not be useful for men with advanced ED that wish to have sex.

I'm in my early 70's. Serious problems with ED started in my early 60's. ED drugs were eventually not effective enough. Aquired VED pump and constriction rings in 2024 which provides usable erections for sexual activity.
