PDE5 efficacy

Postby defiant » Thu Aug 11, 2016 10:03 am

What is your understanding of PDE5s?

Does the patient eventually build a resistance to them and thus gain less benefit from the drug?

I have read multiple *reliable* sources that say drugs such as Cialis do not lose efficacy over time, and in actual fact their efficacy is increased.

It is a worry for many.
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.

Many men here , including myself, report that Cialis et. al. do become ineffective over time. In my case Viagra worked for several years and then suddenly quit. Others have described the same thing.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.

I have had the same problem.
Viagra worked for me for about 10 -12 years then stopped working.
I then tried MUSE that didn't work at all.
Trimix Gel didn't work ether.
Caverject and Edex worked but made my penis ache.
My uro put me on Trimix and WOW.
Gets me hard in 5 mins and stays hard for almost 2 hours.
Started with Viagra at age 40. Worked good for about 12 years.
Tried Trimix injections, worked great for about 8 years
Now Trimix no longer works.
I got implant on Oct 26th 2022.

I have been taking Viagra for about 20 years and Cialis for about five. Both slowly lost their effectiveness over time, even while increasing the dose.

About four years ago, I starte using Trimix which has also lost its effectiveness over time.

In my opinion, the loss of effectiveness is due more to the increasing cause of my ED - complications resulting from diabetes.
Age 81
Diabetic
Pumping
Started Trimix injections 8/'11
