Beyond Choking the Chicken - What we learn from euphemisms

Beyond Choking the Chicken
OR
What we can learn from euphemisms.

(Based on nerve physiology and euphemisms for masturbation)

There are plenty of web sites describing how to masturbate, or at least how to edge (prolong the pleasure) and/or achieve maximal orgasm. But guys with ED try to recapture something that was achieved so easily at one time: getting an erection in the first place.

There are two aspects I've considered for manual techniques in "how to get it up." A. Basic penile innervation: the physiology of the nerves of the penis. B. Euphemisms for masturbation. There's a lot of common sense or "folk wisdom" if one considers the different slang terms for masturbation.

A. Penile Innervation (nerves in your dick!) There are four basic nerves in the penis:
1. Free nerve endings, found throughout the penis. They detect pain and temperature.
2. Ruffini Corpuscles, rare in the penis. They detect stretching and spatial orientation.
3. Meissner's Corpuscles, found in the skin surface of the foreskin and frenulum. They detect light touch and vibration.
4. Pacinian Corpuscles, found in deep layers of skin throughout the penis, but especially the head (glans). They detect vibration and deep pressure, but not continued pressure. This has implications for intercourse, but my focus here is--again--on "how to get it up."

B. "Useful Euphemisms" for Masturbation.
All you have to do is google for these, and there are endless lists of ways guys describe wanking or jacking off. They are more than picturesque, though. They graphically describe mechanics that can help us "get it up."

When I started taking these seriously, it wasn't just to jack off, but also to create a useable erection for lovemaking with my wife. Some of the euphemisms for masturbation are describing the stimulation of particular penile nerves. Other euphemisms help "get it up" for more mechanical reasons (E.g. "choking the chicken").

"Choking the Chicken" can be more than just grabbing one's equipment. A nurse or lab tech will use a tourniquet when drawing blood or inserting an IV. They put the tourniquet on tight enough so that blood is flowing into your arm through arteries (located deeper in the arm), but blood flowing out of the arm via the more superficial veins is slowed down--making the blood vessels "pop up" some more. The same is true with a healthy erection: blood is flowing into the penile shaft through arteries (which are located deeper in the tissue), while the veins are prevented from losing blood. That's why vacuum erection devices sold for ED come with retention rings ("cock rings") to maximize the amount of blood "inflowing" via arteries and minimize the "outflow" of blood via veins. A more natural, non-mechanical method would be to use one hand to form something of a tourniquet whilst the other hand is stimulating the shaft, etc. Even using one finger or thumb to apply pressure to the dorsal veins at the top & base of the shaft will help. A variation "tourniquet" is to push the scrotum down and back, and then squeeze the thighs to hold the boys "pulled back": the skin stretched at the base of the shaft creates something of a tourniquet right where there are some dorsal veins.
There are diagrams on the internet to indicate where the main blood vessels are, and they could be helpful in knowing where to apply pressure.

"Spanking the Monkey"
When a nurse gets ready to draw blood or insert an IV, they will lightly slap the inside of your arm to make the veins "pop out" some more. I have yet to find out exactly why "patting" the crux of the elbow helps a nurse find a vein for drawing blood--but it works. Similarly, "spanking the monkey" induces a physiological response that can help achieve an erection, too.

Sometimes they slap your arm all to no avail. I once read this instruction for nurses that were having a difficult time drawing blood.
"What do you do if you can't get the needle into a vein with a good blood return? We have the patient come back another day after drinking at least four 8oz. glasses of water (more is better) beginning 2 hours before the appointment time. We have used this procedure many times, and I don't recall the last time that it did not work."
I wouldn't presume that drinking more water will give you an instant boner, but it can't hurt!

Then there are some euphemisms or techniques for masturbation that relate back to the physiology of penile nerves.

"Jerkin' the Gherkin"
For some guys, the Ruffini Corpuscles in their penis are stimulated sufficiently by pulling and tugging on their shaft to induce an erection.

"Kneading Dough"
I invented that euphemism to describe how some guys say they initiate an erection. Remember, the Pacinian Corpuscles respond to deep pressure, but not continued pressure. Some guys simply grab their package through their underwear and squeeze it rhythmically. It's not constant pressure, but stimulating the Pacinian Corpuscles in that way can start up an erection.

Let's hear from you:
What is (or has been, at least) your best technique to start up a boner?
60's. Married. Occasional ED offset by a variety of methods (VED pumping, foreskin restoration, edging) with Cialis and/or pills sometimes for sex.

I find that jelqing (50 to 100 times) generates a mild semi for me which I can then use to generate erection with the use of an Osbon tension band.
