Cowpers Gland

Postby notsostiff » Sat Feb 16, 2013 11:33 am

I am just over two years since having my prostate removed. Today I had my best erection since surgery but to my surprise I also had what seemed to be pre-ejaculate. Has anyone else had any experience of the Cowpers Gland springing into life?

The cowper's gland certainly continues to work after surgery. Cowper's fluid is very thick, syrupy - which is why precum is stringy. However, Precum is made up mostly of prostatic fluid - which is what appears at the tip of the penis during arousal. Generally, after PCa surgery, you do not see precum, because, without the prostatic fluid, there is not enough cowper's fluid for it to appear.

Sometimes if you masturbate or are stimulated for a long time, you will produce enough cowper's fluid to ejaculate a tiny bit. So, my guess is you either were aroused long enough, or perhaps some urine got mixed in with the cowper's fluid. If you keep really hydrated, that can help produce more fluid too. Either way, enjoy it. It will remind you of old times!

Yes it certainly reminded me of old times! It definitely wasn't urine though. It was a very small amount of sticky precum. I amjust wondering if the Cowper's gland is springing back into life. Although when I asked my surgeon if he had removed the gland he said he thought he had but he didn't seem too sure.

I had been aroused for quite a while and so maybe that was a factor.

I have had the wonderful experience of oozing that wonderful fluid, and if I have been playing for a long time I will actually spray it all over the place. It reminds me of the pre-surgery days. My orgasms are much more intense also.

I seem to get some cowpers gland fluid most times but only after orgasm. It is nice to get a little reminder of past glories and is nice not to be totally dry.

Hi. I'd be interested to hear if you figure out why that came back to life after 2 years, for example did you change your diet? I had brachytherapy 6+ years ago, and the radiation is inserted through and past the bulb of the penis and the area of those glands. I never discussed it with the urologist, but at some point pretty soon after the radiation I noticed I never had the pre-ejaculate anymore. After a dry spell I recovered some ejaculate although it is clear, watery, very late, and pitifully little. But nothing from the Cowper's glands. Good Luck, Brian

Mine came back to life big time last week after 6 years. After an hour of edging during mutual masturbation with my wife, copious amounts of cowpers fluid erupted at orgasm. I never used to produce much precum. It was like the good old days of ejaculations. Never give up my friends. Anything is possible.
RRP in 2007. PSA undetectable since. Viagra and Cialis work well for me.

I have the opposite situation. I have not had any prostate surgery but do have an implant (Coloplast Titan). I usually produce a lot of pre-cum when masturbating, but then only produce a few drops of clear fluid, like pre-cum when I orgasm - no thick semen at all. No urologist has been able to help. I would love to have any advice anyone can give.I have tried maca root and l-arginine to no avail. Bill

I had RRP (Radical Retro-pubic Prostatectomy) 7 years ago. Everyone once in while when enjoying sex with a partner (I'm single), I do get a bit of pre-cum; the docs assured me that it is not semen, but I wasn't sure what it was. It is very, very sporadic when it happens, but there is enough to notice. I did NOT see the first time that I masturbated after the surgery (about 5-6 weeks after surgery) as I was surprised that I got hard and then had the sensation of "cumming" (on a follow-up, a doc called it an "internal orgasm"). So, it seems that a tiny bit of precum is not a problem.
