ED Statistics

Postby Al1962 » Wed Aug 23, 2023 6:38 pm

So what are the most real, up to date numbers by age for ED?

I know for me as a male that is trying to get over my fear of dating does anyone really know.

I was discussing this with a female friend. She is 45yr old. I said that for most single woman especially her age or younger that woman pretty much have no clue. Some may have came across a rare occurrence but maybe chalked it up to nervousness or whisky dick. Single men with ED don't get a T-shirt made to advertise. They are hiding, single woman don't see them. When I told her this and that the men that single woman are presented with are fine and functional. She was just quiet and shrugged.

She knows I am having some 'non-specific health issues'. I told (the truth) that the anti anxiety meds and trying to get off them have messed up my Hypothalamus and thus have no libido and possible low testosterone.

A simple Google Search shows this common statistic
https://www.singlecare.com/blog/news/er ... tatistics/

ED affects about 10% of men per decade of life. For example, 50% of men in their 50s are affected by ED. (University of Wisconsin Health, 2019)

Age 50 is about the time ED starts to affect a good number of guys. Some way before unfortunately.
My bottom line is if something isn't working and there is a fix go for it.

Mr. sogwap, Thank you.
Last time I looked I had not seen one dated 2023. Those figures do resemble what I had suspected. I don't Google when I'm on an ED site. Mr. Old Guy. Yes typically I am sure 50 is it. I was good up until 52.

Have you seen a urologist who specializes in men's sexual health?

Mr. sogwap.
My 1st Urology appointment is not until Jan 12, 2024 since I am a new client.
I was hoping to get some blood work to check Testosterone. and maybe even a test run with Clomid. I was hoping to do these preliminary steps but my new Dr. asked if I wanted to see Urologist and set it up. Over 4 month wait and nothing will get accomplished at 1st. visit.

That is certainly a long time to wait. I'm surprised no alternative was offered like a different doc or a pa. I remember when I called it was a week to get in to a doc of my choice for ED. First visit explained choices said no further diagnosis necessary your choice of shots or implant. I picked the implant, he introduced me to the surgeon on the way out had an appt with surgeon two days later where he explained everything. In 90 days I was recovering. I hope the wait is worth it and not just more delays. Good Luck. Lots of choices out there. My implant fixed my mind as much as my body. I'm in an HMO which is supposed to be slow, but it worked for me.

I am in West Michigan which has less choices and I currently have insurance covered by the state.

@Randalltx You definitely were on the fast track and good outcome.
