Are there any books or movies that offer a sensitive or sympathetic look at erection problems or is impotence generally a lazy cypher for evil, abnormality or comic incompetence in most media?

The classic novel is D.H. Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover" (1928), which depicts a husband with a war injury. He resigns himself to his wife having sex with another guy because he realizes that women need sex. Quite enlightened for Lawrence's day.

Lady Chatterley's Lover has been made into a movie about 5 or 6 different times I believe? My wife and I recently watched the more current 2022 version which sparked some interesting conversations after watching it. There is another movie, which I have not seen, called "IN SEARCH OF AN IMPOTENT MAN (2003)". I believe it is more of a comedy romance kind of movie?

In "The Green Mile", Tom Hank's character suffers from impotence due to an unnamed urologic problem. He also has trouble urinating.
He is cured by a man wrongfully imprisoned for murder, who actually turns out to be able to perform miracles.
It's actually a very good movie, and actually brought tears to my eyes.

I think it is usually looked at as comedy. I think the intent is to always demasculinize men and marginalize them.

I’ve just recalled one myself: The Chancers by Damien Lanigan where an actor is having erection problems. Turns out his impediment is more psychological than physical and one viagra seems to fix his wagon permanently

The Full Monty, one of the characters has ED and is cold towards his wife. It's mainly due to depression. From memory I think he recovers after the success of the act.

Also don't know if he was or not but George in George and Mildred avoided intimacy with his wife as did Arthur with his in on the buses.

There was also a film or series about rival families one was a criminal family where the dad was being seduced and he said "Ive got all the chemicals". I remember that but not the title as I hadn't long been taking pills and felt guilty watching it in with partner whom I hadn't told.

Like hernia it's often seem as a joke condition - and I suffer with both!
