My Low Libido Linked to Sleep Disturbances - Help!

Postby macoza » Wed May 10, 2023 11:52 pm

Hi guys.. I dont sleep well as I experience about 8 - 10 sleep disturbances per night. As I'm falling asleep and achieve getting some good wood and feeling good level of libido, I get a "pop" in my head that destroys my libido and wakes me up.

My hands and sometimes feet jerk which wake me up during the night as well.

Please let me know if any of you experience this issue and what you think this is and what I should do about it.

I remedy my insomnia with melatonin, but don't take the dosage on the container, it's too much! The recommended dose will overload the sensors in your brain, and it will work for one night only. The correct dose is 0.25-0.33mg. I buy 1mg tablets, cut them into quarters, and put one under my tongue an hour before bedtime. I'll usually drift off to sleep, but wake up in two hours. Then I put another quarter under my tongue (no need to get up for a glass of water), and in 30-45 minutes I'll drift off to sleep again. (There is this time delay before it works.) I usually go through this wake-melatonin cycle until the three extra quarters are used up.

In World War 2, radio men who listened for enemy transmissions were made sleepy when there was only static to listen to. I take a little transistor radio to bed, tune it to static, putting a single earpiece in one ear. Maybe this would also drown out the "pops." For me the noise or indistinct stations tend to block out intrusive thoughts and worries. I use a radio with a 90-minute shutoff to save batteries.

While waiting to drift off, I try to visualize the most relaxing scenes or memories.

Discuss your sleep behavior with your Primary Care Doc - a sleep study, done at home or in a lab, may lead to some treatment options to help with sleep quality.
