TURP problems. Bathroom frequency.

Postby Jamesbond » Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:34 am

Hi
My uro wants to do TURP.
He suggested pills but with google search said can cause lower sperm count.
He disagreed. I guess to be on the safe side he suggested TURP.
He is pretty conservative about treatment and usually very good at what he does.
Think I have less cum. I am not sure. Meant to ask him last time I saw him. After looking on internet it looks like it could be one of the problems associated with enlarged prostate. PSA is low.
Uro said it is low risk of complications.
Uro says it is bigger. Not very large in scan, I guess big enough to be giving me problems.

Are their any problems associated with the procedure?
I was going to wait awhile before I left his office.
If I take mass transit home it is about 90 minutes on same bus. No bathroom. Should I take Uber or mass transit and break it up trip.
If I do that I might be do like 45 minutes between bathrooms.
About how long can I go without a bathroom?
Thank you.
Thinking of getting implant. Have not done it because of the length I
have lost.

I had a turp done. Now I have retrograde ejaculation. Which is when I orgasam, it goes back in not out.. And from what I've read that very common and can't be reversed. Look up retrograde ejaculation. If your concerned about cummings and having it come out think twice unless it's necessary. I'd talk about it with your Dr. If he/ she doesn't say anything or says it won't cause any problems, then might want to get a second opinion. If no semen/sperm coming out when you orgasm is not a problem then nothing to worry about. The one good thing is there's nothing to clean up. Lol
Also. When I had mine done they put in a catheter and left it in for a week. So you will have that to deal with too. Another thought for your travels.

Thanks You. I appreciate the information. One of the sites I just looked at says that becomes a problem in 65-75% of people after procedure. Not odds I like. I was going for the procedure because I did not want possibly lower sperm count. Been on and off dating a much younger women.
I told him that I did not want to rule about me having kids in future.
Last week I waited hours to see Dr for MD clearance. Going to call him next week and ask Uro. Going to I set up conference call to ask him.
I think their has been less fluid lately. Was hoping it would turn back the clock so to speak.
I got plenty of paper towels.
Has to better option to shrink the prostate. Dr’s a nice guy. He is running a business. At times I have noticed he is trying to sell me stuff. Example, overpriced vitamins.
Thanks you. I really appreciate it.

There is two different procedures TURP and Green Light Laser. Do the same thing remove prostate tissue but in different ways. With Green Light Laser it’s a newer procedure that uses laser
To vaporize the tissue I place if cutting it out. Supposed to be a little better in some complications such as bleeding. I’m
Attached a link to a study comparing the two.

I just had Green Light Laser yesterday. Little back history. Was having the usual
Issues low flow, filling like I had to pee, then couldn’t, feeling like I had to and running to get to the bathroom or I would pee on myself, a lot of pressure when peeing. Doctor did a cystoscope and found I had a place on my prostate at the opening of the bladder that was blocking flow. He put me on Flowmax which helped some. He told me the Flowmax could cause retrograde ejaculation, but did not on me. I could tell I was not pumping out as much fluid as usual.Things seemed a little better for a while but then I got a UTI went on antibiotics for 10 days felt better and then a few days symptoms started all over again and got worse ended up going up
To my kidney and on antibiotics for 3 weeks. After this I decided to get the Green light Laser. Yes the doctor talked about the chance of retrograde ejaculation and like you I read the percentages of men getting it from either procedure is high if considering trying to have a baby it’s something that can’t be reversed. I Had second thoughts not because of wanting another child, I’m old and have grandkids, better than kids haha. But played with my head after the long battle with ED, loss of ejaculation was another blow to my manhood. But as Beachbum said hey won’t have to clean up anymore. The procedure went well, done outpatient. The bummer is wearing this catheter until Friday. Don’t know how long it will be before I can know if I can ejaculate but I’ll try to post a update.

I have had and recommend the REZUM procedure to shrink the prostate. Now I pee like a 20 year old and have no retrograde ejaculation. Look it up.

Thank you.
The TURP seems to be a common problem with retrograde ejaculation after the procedure. I am not doing that.
I will ask the uro next time I see him.
This looks like a better alternative.
Thank you
Have a good weekend.

I had the Green Light Laser Procedure many years ago and got significant relief from slow/blocked urination, especially at night. Not certain that the Green Light caused the retrograde problem but probably was a contributor. Also taking Finasteride and Enalapril - all of which reduced the number of bathroom trips at night to generally twice. Left with Retrograde ejaculation. Sex still enjoyable but not quite the same feeling as old squiring out stuff, but at my age, I'll take it....
