When you send a message, it sits in your outbox until it has been read by the recipient.
Yes, this is different than most systems, but it is actually a great feature.

Don't panic. Messages are not stuck. They just have not been read/opened yet.

I would really like to remove that 100 message private inbox thing. We are not in 2006 anymore. Is there any way to update it?

Discovernew, Not that I know of but there is a workaround. You can create additional inboxes (need to use different titles, not "Inbox") and direct new messages to one of those if you want to keep the old messages, rather than delete them once more than 100 are accumulated.
