Penile implant and marriage / relationship

Postby Fourtytwo00 » Fri Dec 03, 2021 6:20 pm

I found this extensive survey about implants, I think it could be interesting.

The woman and the penile prosthetic implant https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... bM8anq1ffq

I also read an interview given by Kaplan where he sayd an implant could save a marriage but also lead to a divorce. Could someone explain the reason of the last outcome? Any experience here?

Mine lead to a divorce. My wife didn't want me to get one. I think deep down she was worried that I could have sex with other women. When she was not supportive combined with plenty of other toxic traits, I decided to get a divorce.

I would say that in a healthy relationship, 1 month post implant the partner satisfaction is probably 60%.... 6 months to a year later that probably increases to 90-95%.

I didn't read the article but in my case it saved our marriage. Wife was totally frustrated with my ED issue and being so much younger I had to do something. Started Viagra but when those quit working it was like going through ED again. Then injections worked for a couple years but started to have hit or miss results. Another depressing time like going through ED once more. My wife was unsure about the implant, and the surgery was tough on me. But now our sex life is back to pretty normal. Asked her not long ago (after sex) if she could live without sex the rest of her life? Immediate answer "No".
My only thought about leading to a divorce is the guy does not truly love his wife. Once he realizes he can "do it" any time at all and decides to cheat on the partnership it won't be long before getting caught. Lawyers and court next!

Viaswiss, just taking a stab here, but I think your ex-wife wanted you in the same boat, as in decreased libido and/or could not have sex. Yep, regardless, support from you SO will play a big part. I do not have that, but at the same time, I have friends who at least can support me physically, as in to/from Dr. and any emergencies that come up. The rest was up to me.

I mean stuff like decreased libido, lack of support during recovery, trouble in accepting a device (you know erections, engorged glans, orgasm can matter a lot for some women - they need to feel "validated" and desired). Not straightforward refusal before implanting or straightforward cheating after.

I'm interested to know also if someone had this problems and managed to solve them successfully.

I was unaware that glans insufficiency was a consequence of the implant?

Glans and the other spongiosum tissues of the penis (the glans and the shaft outstide of the tunica albuginea, wherein te implant takes the over the function of the cavernosum tissues) are supplied by a different flow of blood. Thus engorgement of the spongiosum (which includes the glans) is independent of the engorgement and erection of the penis.

SOMETIMES the nerves that serve the spongiosum are damaged during the operation, thus making lack of glans engorgement a consequence of the implant operation. Recovery of sensation and glans engorgement is possible. Sometimes, not so much.

The bottom line is, almost every man who got an implant, if he had glans engorgement before the operation, he has the same after the implant. Not every operation is perfect, so the experience and training of the surgeon is very often mentioned on FrankTalk as very important to choose a surgeon who as LOTS of experience doing implants on his own or training under a master surgeon who has.
