Veinous Leak

Postby risefromtheashes » Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:16 am

Hello & best wishes to all. I'm 41 & recently suffered an abrupt erection failure during intercourse (no real pain). This had never happened before. For about a month afterwards, I rarely got nocturnal erections & when I did they were about half strength (poor sleep from worry didnt help), nor have I been able to achieve and/or maintain an erection to masterbate or ejaculate (unless i used 50mg viagra). It also seemed as if the normal sensations that I used to have in my penis had diminished. Something major had changed and it really concerned me. This was a stark contrast to before the abrupt failure, I masterbated/ejaculated several times a week & erections & sex were always of quality. I finally got a doppler ultrasound and was diagnosed with a veinous leak. I feel as if what has been a great life of mine is now in serious jeopardy. I'm looking for other's experiences with veinous leaks similiar to mine or otherwise. The urologist said that there was nothing that could be done about it, but also said that it could possibly heal and I did read that online as well, but that is of little consolation right now. I'm trying to cope & be optimistic because I have no other choice. Other's experiences and advice would be very welcome. I'm trying to figure out my best & worst case scenarios. Much thanks to Paul.

If you are able to maintain an erection with 50 mg of Viagra, I do not believe you have a serious venous leak. I am unable to maintain an erection with 150'mg of Viagra. Talk to your Uro about Trimix injections. Some of the members have experienced some rehabilitative effects after several weeks of injecting.

risefromtheashes,
I agree with dtwarren1942 in that you have venous leakage ... but not too severe ... have you tried a constriction ring along with your Viagra? It sounds like it could help ... you can find them cheap enough at Amazon. Search - "penis ring"

Sounds to me like you have a blood flow problem (quite common) ... you should consider using VED to maintain good penis health. There are quite a few suppliments to improve blood flow (L-arginine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Pycnogenol) also available at Amazon.

Keep us posted of your progress ... as there are many here with similar issues ...

Bionic makes a good point. On non Trimix days, I get great results with a medium tension Osbon tension band, I use it about three times a week. However, you need to be aware that tight constriction causes your dick to become insensitive and eventually numb after ten minutes or so and needs to be removed every 20 minutes to avoid damage.

Actually, before my ED became severe a got good results with a 1/2 inch rubber band doubled over and slipped on a well lubricated shaft.

Bionic & dtwarren, thank you for the replies...belatedly. I haven't been on here for a while. What is meant by the term VED? Also, I'm still trying to figure out why I have different feeling in my penis (loss of sensation flaccid) and how that fits into my issue. I'll be going for several more tests in the next 4 - 6 weeks. Thank you guys. dtwarren, I can actually get a decent erection without 50mg of viagara, but if I try to walk to another room, I might lose it and that never was an issue before my event. I've been taking l-arginine for yeasrs before I ever had any problems.

VED = Vacuum erection device (see: Pumps section) you can find a verity of pumps at Amazon.com. You should really use this to maintain penis health.

Sounds like you have nerve damage ... be sure to express your concerns to your URO ...

Good luck with your tests and keep us posted on your progress ...

I have a new respect for the suffering that some of you guys have gone through. I know what an affect this life change has had on me over the last few monbths.

I can't discount the possibility that I have some degree of leakage, but I doubt ( and so do some of my second opinions from other doctors) the reliability of the doppler that I had administered and the fact that the leakage diagonosis doesn't explain my loss of feeling. After the incident, I couldn't feel my penis like I had before. I felt like a neutered cat and still do. I'm wondering how this factors in. I do have some manageable pain in my penis when I do have erections that wasn't there before. I've suspected neurological aspects as well, my new Doctor said that this aspect would be covered in the upcoming tests. Naturally, I'm hoping to recover fully, but I also hope that my plight might provide some useful info for others. I'm not diabetic and have normal blood sugar.

Now 3 months after the event that changed my sexual function. Still have unusual diminished feeling/sensation when flaccid. Still wonder how this factors in to my recently acquired ED. Things do seem to be improving mildly, erections while sleeping are coming back. I'm able to get a decent erection and maintain it for 10 mintutes or longer when masterbating. It takes agreat deal more time and effort that it used to. If I walk to another room much better chance that the erection will subside than before, not sure how this compares to where I used to be. Still haven't tried intercourse yet, nervous. Recently have been able to get an erection when induced by kissing or petting. Erection is not as strong as it was before, but this seems encouraging. Uros in my city were useless. Got a new doc, a sexual health physician in a new city. He recommended VED therapy, so I plunked down $549 for a prescription pump (UGHH), should be arriving soon. I read about the viberect and there were alot of things about this that seemed encouraging, especially considering my loss of feeling in the penis. So I ordered one yesterday. Hope that it's worth the $280.00. Doc had never heard of the viberect, but wasn't opposed to it. Day after tomorrow, I go to a hospital recommended by new doc for another doppler ultrasound as well as an EMG to test nerve function in pelvic/groin area. Nervous about the doppler. Needle hurt like hell last time. But hopeful that a properly administered ultrasound (done while fully erect), will squash my recent veinous leak diagnosis. Nervous but hopeful for positive news. Will reply to keep all who've responded to this thread up to date. Best wishes & thanks to all.
