Nasal congestion with daily tadalafil (cialis)

Postby mr.skin » Tue Jul 28, 2020 5:41 am

Hello,

I am taking daily tadalafil in a high dose but I have trouble sleeping due to nasal congestion. Feeling always tired.

Except for the anti-congestive sprays - any ideas how to counteract that ?

Yes, nasal congestion is a common side effect of Cialis.

Side effects may also include headaches and hypotension.

In my case, a cup of coffee did wonders. Caffeine is a powerful vasoconstrictor and counteracts the effects of tadalafil.

Just wondering; why are you taking a high dose daily?
Cialis builds in the system due to its long half life. You may be overdosing.
The main benefit of daily tadalafil is the long term effect it may have on the health and repair of the erectile tissues. A low dose is all that is needed here. 5mgs a day.
It can take more than a year on this protocol for changes to occur.
If you need a stronger dose for sex just do this on the days you plan to have sex.
Some days I skip my 5mg dose, to prevent the drug building up in my system, otherwise I can wake in the mornings to a small headache.
However, as Flavio says, as soon as I have a coffee in the morning, the headache goes away!
Age 57, ED issues for 15-20 years. Testosterone replacement with Enanthate and Ovidrel. Currently using generic Tadalafil 2.5mgs and Resveratrol daily.

I was wondering the same thing, why "HIGH DOSE"? I got 20mg tablets "On-Demand" dosing from my Uro last year before I got my implant and it caused such a headache and stuffy nose that I had to change to daily. I cut the 20s into half lengthwise then each half in half widthwise to give approximately a quarter of a 20mg dose daily. Since I put them in my medication dispenser as I cut them, I get a 20mg dosage over the course of four days so the half-life keeps it about steady.

Even still, when I started taking 5mg daily again after being off of it for about 3-4 weeks, I had a stuffy nose for a couple of days. I'm taking it for the potential benefit of glans engorgement improvement and possibly improvement in delayed orgasm of which I suffer. (Also taking Cabergoline 0.5mg biw)

I totally agree with Simbarn and Waynetho.

Cialis is an excellent ED treatment but side effects may be a bit unpleasant.

I know there is a daily version of Cialis and doctors prescribe it very often but I can't imagine myself taking it so regularly, let alone a high dose.

Thanks for your answers, even though they dont help with the nasal congestion - I am well aware that that is a side effect.

the reason I overdose the pde5i is quite simple - i have a very severe ED, usually I inject PGE1 as well.

But when I take a daily dose of 20mg tadalafil (which results in approx 32mg of effective tadalafil dose daily bc of the long half life) I tend to get somewhat usable erection, if I take an additional Sildenafil (100-200mg) I might be able to have some kind of erection which might be suitable for sex.

Additionally the low dose daily tadalafil does improve things because of regular nightly erection, I just have those benefits with the high dose.

My blood pressure is actually fine, so no worries about that even though I take a high dose.

Another reason is - if I take 30mg tadalafil just at once I get the sides stronger than when I take it daily, the sides tend to wean off over time.

Higher doses don't always mean more efficacy but only your doctor can say for sure.

I suggest you ask your doctor about avanafil (brand names Spedra, Stendra). It is a PDE-5 inhibitor that is also very effective but with a shorter half-life and more tolerable when it comes to side effects (no nasal congestion, in my case).

Actually no, the only person who can gauge that is yourself. ;)

I talked to my urologist with it about it - he says whatever works for me is fine as long as I do not get hypotensive and pass out while having sex. BC that does not help anyone ;). But my blood pressure is quite good actually (120/70).

I have Avanafil, tadalafil and sildenafil here.

Usually I take the sildenafil earlier and the avanafil when I guess sth happens bc of it s faster mechanism of action ;)

I think your doctor is absolutely right and this is an excellent piece of advice.

My current regimen (avanafil + phentolamine) is extremely effective but hypotension is a major issue and I have almost passed out a couple of times in the past (i.e. dizziness but never actually fainted). Seeing the doctor is mandatory, self medication is always a risk.
