ED and desensitization due to the side effect of antidepressants

Postby mraakim » Thu Jun 25, 2020 6:28 am

Does anyone over here has ED due to the side effects of medication, specially antidepressants? Just looking for support and information about what can be done about such kind of ED. I feel like sexual dysfunction due to antidepressants is very common but rarely talked about.

I strongly suspect that my almost complete loss of penile sensation can be attributed to the short use and discontinuation of bupropion. Although genital numbness and loss of libido is a common side effect of SSRI' (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft), bupropion rarely caused this kind of side effect. But that is the only reason for the sudden and almost complete loss of penile sensitivity that I can think of.
32yo, married, ed since 2 years, pills not effective. Possible venous leak, will get a doppler ultrasound.

I have the same thing from quitting viibryd cold turkey. It tends to happen from ssri drugs though and not usually snri. I have taken wellebutrin to help with sexual dysfunction so I don’t have any experience with it causing it but I have had the same symptoms as you for over a year now. Look up PSSD. I have no libido, Ed, off and on flaccid shrinkage, and numbness in my penis. I can still feel it but the feeling is somewhat numb, and I can still feel hot and cold there. But I don’t feel like I’m supposed to there. It’s like the connection from brain to there isn’t working right. Anyways I have the same problem. I got through the past year with viagra and cialis and I started testosterone therapy but I am pretty much the same. The pills are starting to help less so I’ve started preparing myself with the idea that it may not get better and I’ll eventually be on injections then an implant.. I’m 37.

Wellbutrin has been good for me.
I think Prozac has not. At first Prozac seemed fun because I could last longer. Now I have low Libido and ED. I am 58 and Diabetic so also contributing factors. Thankful I do not have numbness but I am way less sensitive. Told my Dr. I had no Libido and he said quit taking Prozac. After a week I was a premature ejaculator again to the extent I felt worthless and don't care to try sex.
My anxiety and depression hit hard and I have been taking Prozac again for a week until I can see my Dr. I'm hoping he will increase the Wellbutrin and I will stop the Prozac.

Wellebutrin can also contribute to PE. It made me worse in that department when taking it. Yeah if I don’t improve off everything in next few months I’m going to give wellebutrin a try again. It’s been a year with not much change which is crazy but I guess receptors having to resensitize which is my theory of problem may take a while
