Sex after Prostate Cancer Surgery

Postby Old_AnT » Mon Jun 01, 2020 1:17 pm

Successful surgery Jan 2020. Happy to be alive and happy to have a job in this economy.

But the sex life pretty much sucks. I was warned it would be challenging. I was counting on things working a bit less well, but holy cow wasn't prepared for this much of a drop-off. Tips and tricks from any guys that have been down this path before?

Well there really are only three options.

1) A ved device with restrictor rings
2)Injections
3) Implant

I suppose you could try Viagra, or ciallis but if the cut the nerves!!!
Some have had things get better over time but I was not successful at that

A ved device with restrictor rings - Have been using these and it helps a bit not not really enough.

Am trying to hold off on surgery until an absolute last resort.

Similar to injections, does anyone have any experience with IU treatment (Alprostadil)?

The bottom line is that you have no prostate, whether surgically removed or cancer eliminated by Proton Beam or Radiation, or other methods. So, the boy does not respond. The other guys have basically said the same thing: pills, vacuum, or implant. The longer you delay the implant,, the more issues can arise, due to other health concerns. Discuss an implant with your Urologist now. Some stop doing surgeries on men past a certain age or because of health concerns. I waited 9 years and finally had the AMS LGX and I cannot tell you how much life has improved. The erections are awesome, the recovery time is relatively easy, and if your wife/partner is involved, t I'd a relatively easy process as you both look forward to better sex. You may PM for my details anytime.

You should be pumping using a VED for therapy and pills too if you tolerate them well. If you tolerate them use the pills daily (as prescribed by your doctor) not for sex but for therapy. OK, sex too it they work that well. Don't get too discouraged yet. Some men show recovery a year or more after surgery. You may want to try injections too. I'd first try straight alprostadil if you tolerate that well. Otherwise you'll have to go to tri-mix to reduce the alprostadal concentration. Some doctors recommend alprostadil injections for therapy although there is some risk with all injections. The injections do provide some therapy by exercising your dick, plus the boner they produce can be lots of fun
Good luck.

Find out how much of your nerves were damaged removed. If removed it is time for an implant now. After a nerve sparing RP the (average) return time for erections is 24 months. Some sooner some later. My post RP physical therapist/penile therapist put me on a VAC device daily and injections weekly to keep blood flow and avoid athropy. If you have nerves, hang in there. Nothing is better than a blood filled dick. My signature tells my story.

Hi Old Ant
Like you, but 5 years ago i had my prostate removed. End of erections. Im now 59 and still obsessed with trying to get something back. I use the Pump VED Response11 is my device. So its 5 mins in the loo and no spontaneous sex now. I have a tolerant girl friend thank god. Its not as good but its something and I do reach orgasm. I have to keep going to the loo to pump as the hard on goes down considerably even tho rings are used. I also take Cialis which helps with blood filling into the penis. I'm fit and healthy guy and disappointed with things but lucky not to have cancer and can watch my 13 year old daughter grow up.....
I have to persevere with a bit of VED and some Pills and that's the best I can get ... I don't fancy the implant as the OP success rate doesn't look so good ... expensive and not guaranteed???

anyway feel free to get back to me if you need any more detail
