Matt, I think you just made a very valid point. Number of patients that need to be seen on a daily basis, no real answer as to why in many cases so they follow an algorithm as it were!
The the time requirement to really work through defining the issue is just to much to deal with, unfortunately! Many times the doctor rush’s to a judgement about the cause and the treatment. In my case I went through the whole process. Step one throw pills, Cialis, at the problem worked for a while! Then ultrasound of penis, injected with Trimix, no erection just a big chubby! Diagnosed with VL. Set up for implant surgery. Actually in OR preop and doctor canceled implant due to possible infection as my white count was elevated! Put on antibiotics and told to reschedule after 30 days. During the 30 days I decided to get a second opinion and went to a men’s clinic that specializes in ED. They did ultrasound without injection and told me they thought they could help. Came in with a Trimix injection. I had a 3 hour erection. This clinic said many doctors use a Trimix formula for the ultrasound test that just isn’t sufficient to give erection. Now, I’m using Trimix that works. I’m not opposed to having an implant at all, and will most certainly get one if the Trimix stops working. But at this point, for me the least invasive plan works and works well. Oh regarding nocturnal erections yes I get them and I wake up with a pretty good erection mist mornings. I do have I think another contributing factor with my ED. And it may be the primary according to my back surgeon. I have degeneration of lower spine in L4-L5-S1. And spinal stenosis! Resulting in significant numbness in both thighs. I had a EMG test and the compression of my nerves is significant. So impinged nerves he said very like a contributing factor to my ED. So, you guys out there with lower back issues, just maybe that is your problem too! Just a thought.
Diagnosed venous leak. Going with injections rather than implant for the time being.
