Hi. Stumbled across this site while searching for information about the AMS 700 LGX which I had installed two days ago. I was well aware of how the device works, failure rates, satisfaction rates, etc. But I was curious about finding people who had voiced their personal experiences. Somehow, I found this site while clicking on various links. It's perfect. I'm a 60 year old white male, diagnosed with PC in Jan 07, Gleason 6, surgically removed via prostatectomy Mar 07. I immediately became incontinent. Over the next six months, scarring at the bladder neck or stricture caused retention issues requiring surgery. In July 08, my uro doc expressed the need for more surgery to clear out scar tissue at the bladder neck. I was done with him. I got a referral to a specialist at Duke. He dilated the bladder neck and put me on a regime of self calibration(placing a cath in the bladder) to prevent more problems. Subsequently he installed a bladder sling which resolved the incontinence problem. I've spent the past year trying to decide what to do about ED and finally decided to use a Duke surgeon to install an AMS 700 LGX multi component penile prosthesis. However, not before he dilated me several weeks ago for more scarring at the bladder neck. For the first time in two days, I'm actually sitting on both butt cheeks while typing without my ice pack. When asked about pain the night of the surgery, I referred to a scene from Casino, where DeNiro's character bashes a card counter's hand/fingers with a hammer. I told my buddy to imagine that was his johnson instead of his hand. The first time I peeked down at it after the surgery, I was a bit shocked at the bruising and swelling. I believe the worst is over and am confident that by Monday I'll feel much better. I return to the surgeon next week for a post op followup. If enough swelling has subsided, I expect him to cycle the device and coach me. I've got to begin more self calibration on Monday and followup with the bladder neck stricture expert. That's about it. My PSA tests continue to look good. I knew the negative side of a having my prostate removed, although I never imagined it would be this difficult. But I'm alive and that's all that matters. Hopefully the implant will work and I look forward to renewed intimacy with my wife of 37 years.

Thanks for your post. If I can get my insurance to cover some of the expence I will be going down the same road. Good luck with the healing.
