Doctor refusing Ultrasound

Postby Ratt19 » Thu Aug 29, 2019 4:39 pm

As the topic says, my doctor is refusing to authorize a penile ultrasound. He has diagnosed me with diabetes related damage to my penis causing ED. He wants me to start injection therapy because Viagra that I was given did not work.

I asked him for the ultrasound again today and he says that it wouldn't change his diagnoses so he won't allow it. Furthermore he said it wouldn't be of diagnostic value.

According to what I have read "Penile ultrasound can be used to evaluate many conditions affecting the penis, including erectile dysfunction (ED), plaques (such as those caused by Peyronie’s disease), fibrosis, lumps, and even cancer."

What should I do? Why would a doctor want to deny a test that would show potential issues in further detail?

Well you probably won't get it done, the reason two of my doctors said, why do it it won't fix anything so just try pills, shots and ved. If they don't work then it is implant time. Jim

If I lose faith in my doctor or think I know better than him/her, it’s time for me to find a new doctor.

Because it can give data about plaque which you can feel. So if injection xiaflex it indicates calcified or not. In also review arterial and venous leakage. It also can give the insurance company a reason to turn you down for say implants. You don't need a ultrasound to tell if you have pd, you and your Dr can see that very easily. You can see you penis bend
