alprostadil cream?

Postby MikeFromOregon » Mon Aug 26, 2019 4:16 pm

Title basically says it all. Anyone have experience? I called to see if avella sold alprostadil monomix, they said the only one they had was the cream. Any experience? If so and you still use it, where do you buy? (mail order preferred or one in salem or).

I'm interested in this as well. I'd like to know if this or another med would help engorge the glans of an implanted penis. Hopefully someone out there will have had some experience with it.

I don't think it is toxic, but have read it is not good tasting (check me on this, I researched over two years ago and my memory is fuzzy).

I rejected trying alpostrodil penile suppository because my lover at the time like to swallow and also had sensitive skin, so intercourse or fellatio would have been problematic.

Other brand names:
Caverject
Impulse
Prostin VR Pediatric
Muse
Drug Class: Prostaglandin

(edited to add, Note: I got this list from the internet link cited below. bldoink pointed out that Caverject is injectable, not cream. I should have wondered about that, given the "ject" at the end of the name. Also, the "Pediatric" in the name of the Prostin VR Pediatric did cause me to wonder, but I did not vet the list.)

A LOT less invasive than an implant or even injections. And if your partner participates in the application, can be a form of foreplay also. Getting your partner to participate in all activities preparatory for sex (washing, grooming, etc) can add to the fun if both of you get into the right mind-set.

Vitaros failed to get FDA approval and was turned down.

Caverject is the brand name of the Impulse alprostadil injection system. It is for injections of alprostadil and is the primary competitor of Edex. Most just refer to Caverject Impulse as Caverject.

Prostin VR Pediatric is a pediatric injection preparation for pediatric heart conditions.

Muse is the alprostadil suppository for stuffing into the urethra.

I'm unaware of any FDA approved commercial alprostadil cream preparation for external use. Some compounding pharmacies may produce such preparations per a doctors script. Unless there has been some recent change, as previously mentioned, Vitaros was turned down by the FDA (https://www.mdmag.com/medical-news/fda-rejects-apricus-biosciences-alprostadil-erectile-dysfunction-cream)

The response letter indicates that the FDA cannot move forward with the approval of the cream in its present form. The letter identified deficiencies related to the chemistry, manufacturing and control and flagged certain safety concerns specific to the 2.5% concentration of DDAIP.HCI contained in the current formula.

However, I believe it is approved in Canada and Europe.

Indeed Vitaros is approved in Europe. I've tried it quite a few times, since i could get it for free. It was 100% failure, not even once did it give me even a semi-hard. At BEST it got the head slightly engorged but that's so marginal that it doesn't even matter.
Application was messy and the disappointment quite big, i was so looking forward to the magical "no needles" cure...

Eventually we gave up and threw what we had left away cause it really did nothing.

That's my experience, maybe it worked better for other people but as far as i heard from my doctor that's not the case.

I tried it once and it didn't work. I can't remember the brand anymore, it was a white cream injected into my urethra.
