Oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg (brand names Vasomax, Vigamed, Vasoviril) is an excellent treatment for sexual performance anxiety and other forms of ED.
Phentolamine is not a PDE-5 inhibitor, it is an alpha blocker that stops sympathetic action and increases blood flow to the penis. There are several studies that show its efficacy and it has been approved in several countries (Brazil, Venezuela) for the treatment of ED.
It may be used in combination with Viagra and other drugs but risk of side effects (headaches, dizziness) could be higher. Always consult your urologist.
I have used phentolamine in the past and it was extremely effective: because it works via the parasympathetic nervous system, I was able to maintain a strong erection even after ejaculation!
I have no idea why this was discontinued, I'm guessing dishonest marketing by big pharma companies. There are, however, online pharmacies where you can still get phentolamine. Please spread the word, this treatment is not a scam and ED patients should have more options available.
