Anyone ever cure their ED via naturally lowering blood pressure ? (via lowering calorie intake, exercise, etc)

Postby Evinrude » Tue May 07, 2019 3:58 pm

Guess I've had a notion that if only I "got the blood moving" via exercise and loosing weight, my ED would go away. Does that EVER work ?

Bottom line is, at age 65, with Viagra decreasing in effectiveness (up to 150mg now) is there ANYTHING that would turn back the clock other than penile implant ? Which I'm not opposed to doing, just want to be sure beforehand it's my only realistic option.

No answer....so modification of question.... rather than "cure"..."reduce ED symptoms somewhat" ?

Anything you can do to raise your fitness level CAN help. But it depends on what the cause of the problem is.

There was a member here who recommended a concoction of spices that "cleansed the blood" of arterial-blocking sediments ()my word, not his, but it is pictorial) among other things. If I can remember his name I will post again.

Even with an implant, it is a good idea to raise your fitness level, though. With my implant, I find my erection can now last longer than the rest of me can. :D

His name was Nowhard (he changed it from Nohard). I came across him on another forum, and, apparently, his ED is back.

Any recovery is dependent on the reversal of the root cause of the ED.

A healthy lifestyle and regular exercise are the #1 ED treatment.

I wouldn't call it 'natural' but I take oral phentolamine mesylate for ED, which is also a high blood pressure treatment.

I've been able to get my lipids into a healthy range.
My blood pressure is lower than when I was in my 20's.
My type 2 diabetes is very well controlled. Diet & meds. A1C of 6.4.
Sleep apnea is correctly treated.
Reduced my BMI to 30. Not great but better.
I take testosterone weekly.
Just had a complete cardio exam. Declared healthy.
The change in my ED? Not a single bit of improvement. It seems that ED is a progessive condition. Once it starts, stopping or slowing it isn't very fruitful. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But, it sure looks like implants are the best/surest treatment.

Regular exercise is the #1 ED treatment, no question about it.

If high blood pressure is an issue, you may want to try oral phentolamine. It is an ED treatment but is also used to lower blood pressure. Phentolamine is a prescription drug and heart patients should never try it. Always consult your doctor (urologist) first.

In response to the question of whether men can "cure ED via naturally lowering blood pressure" there is an interesting video on YouTube by Gerald Brock MD of Toronto:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fde1ltS8SJk

He speaks to how ED is sometimes a symptom of underlying medical problems. He suggests that ED is a leading indicator of cardiac problems by about three years. That is, men who develop ED show an increased risk of having a heart attack within the next three years.

So, the answer to your question is yes, there are many things a man can do to generally improve his health that may improve ED. Note this is not a cure, but an attempt to generally improve health.

This may address things such as high blood pressure, high blood glucose levels, other lifestyle choices that effect respiration, creeping obesity, alcohol and tobacco use and the like.

And Dr. Brock has a light pleasant nature when speaking of ED. I appreciate his approach.

Looking back over my own five year of health history, I do wish I had asserted myself and pushed for assessment to find underlying health problems. I think this probably would have discovered the 90% blockage of cardiac arteries, and the subsequent STEMI. This probably could have averted the heart attack, and resulting heart damage.

So in summation I would say that we are bodies with dicks attached, not dicks with bodies attached. If the body is not healthy, the dick isn't going to work well.

Hi,

I am 46 yo and in the best shape of my life (except the ED of course).
I am thin and muscular. BMI 23. 12% percent body fat. Visible six pack. Personally, I don't know any other 46 yo man that is in the same shape as I am (they exists, but I see them only on YouTube and Instagram).
Because of the ED (that started when I was 36) I transformed my body and my nutrition. Since then, I never get sick. Never. Not even a simple cold.
I exercise 2 hours 6 days a week.
Two years ago I've gone through all types of cardiac tests and all turned out perfectly fine.
All blood tests are perfect. Normal glucose, low cholesterol, low triglycerides.

But nothing helps. ED still deteriorates for 10 years (no erection at all these days).
I get TRT Nebido injections because I was diagnosed with hypogonadism, but that doesn't stop the ED from getting worse.

I blame genetics and poor nutrition. Before I transformed my nutrition I ate mostly junk food for 36 years. I drank only Coca-cola for 25 years. I was 25 pounds heavier, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and I was sick all the time.
You can't reverse the damage done. Maybe in future medicine they will find a way to clean the arteries.
At first, I hoped that my transformation will at least stop the damage and prevent further deterioration. But that hope is gone also (even 200mg of Viagra doesn't do anything for me today).

Just needed to vent out a bit and share my story.

Thanks,
Benny

I would not say that it is impossible to reverse but of course everyone is different.

Sounds like you are in great shape/health but I am reminded of a story my cardiologist told me when talking to me as (then) 290lb fat guy who just had a blocked artery. He relayed his ever-amazement at the way the human body responds to crisis... In 2019 a guy came in to see him. He was in his early 40s and had been a marathon and ultra-marathon runner since college. No body fat, looked model thin, full blown vegan and never smoked or drank. By the time he came to see my doctor, tests showed he already had several heart attacks and two of his three arteries were 90% blocked.

Meanwhile former fat guy me, had nearly 150lbs on this guy, did not watch what i ate and after placing the stent was found to have not had any attacks and otherwise clear arteries... our only commonality was we both consumed far more sugar than we should (far too many energy drinks for me).

My only point is, you may look/feel great but it does not take much to block a heart artery and even less to block a penile artery. Add to this all the carbs and sugar that humans eat - mostly unwittingly - and that is recipe for ED and far more life threatening issues.

Here are a few areas you can look into if you are so inclined:

1. Taking Vitamin K2 daily - this is a longer term solution to underlying issues with arterial calcification. I have taken 300mcg of MK7 and 100mcg of K4 everyday for coming up on six months. My own research has shown this is a slow but steady benefit that may take as long as a year to show results.

2. Niacin - I take 500mg daily to improve circulation and lower LDL since I will no longer take a statin. I would avoid the "anti-flush" versions as my own research has shown this to be much less effective.

3. ALA + Benfotamine - Alpha Lipoic Acid - There is a growing body of evidence that this supplement helps to repair nerve damage caused by sustained high blood sugar (even if you are not diabetic). This includes the nerves to hands, feet, eyes and the endotheial walls of the penis.

4. Cialis Microdose - taking < 5mg a day at bed has shown in some studies to improve the endotheial cells and improve erections. I would add - from my own experience - that the old addage of "then more is better" does NOT apply here. I have found 3mg (a sliver of a normal 20mg tab) worked FAR better for me than a once daily 10mg or 20mg maintenance tab.

Remember, like everything else with our bodies, it took years or decades to damage... so repair overnight is not going to happen. Patience and consistency will yield results for many once you commit to the path!

5. Long term fasting - This was my personal miracle. Started off avoiding carbs/sugar then graduated to full KETO. After that went to intermittent fasting (1/23 one meal a day) and now I have completed a 10 day water only fast along with a few 3 days and the results have been amazing. It is likely not for everyone but I am now a FIRM believer (pun intended) in the nearly miraculous things our bodies can do if we just let them heal.

Best of luck!
