You might want to read some research articles and get a second opinion. Research hands shown that Testosterone replacement does not increase the risk of cancer unless a man already has acute prostate cancer when the therapy starts. One 2016 study showed this:

The outcome recommendation was that “Overall, our study suggests that what is best for men’s health is to keep testosterone levels balanced and within a normal range,” says Loeb, who suggests that men with testosterone levels below 350 nanograms per deciliter and symptoms should seek medical advice about whether they should consider testosterone therapy.

The key is to make sure your screened for prostate cancer prior to starting, get a good overall hormone level including sex hormones besides Testosterone, and have your doctor monitor the therapy and T levels.

Thanks hryqwert, My prostate checks came back AOK. Maybe I'll seek out more expert advice/care. My GP was so off-hand about my concerns and symptoms. I've not had any hormone levels other than T checked. Steve

My T was low and I successfully raised it with treatment. But other than achieving a normal T level I experienced no benefit or effect of any kind.

I asked my urologist if T could cause prostate cancer.
He said it wouldn't, but if I had cancer it would "feed" it.
For that reason, he continually (6 monthly) monitors my PSA level and does the digital check as well.

Before starting the T, I was feeling rundown but don't recall my T level.
After starting, I perked up and got pretty horny. I also think I got a bit stronger.

Over the course of about 3 years my primary care doc and I found that when my T level is in the mid 800's range is where I function best. Anything substantially less and I crash as far as any benefits of the therapy go. In the 800's range I have tons of motivation, energy and sex drive. I was just at my doc's office awhile ago to get a lab order because my level got up to around 1300 last time and the doc cut the dosage in half. Over 3 months I know I am very low now since reclined on the couch is my most time consuming activity now. Going for the blood draw on Friday and looking forward to having the dose increased again. Over the course of my therapy of weekly self injecting I've noticed some ball shrinkage. What do I care? I had a vasectomy years ago so they serve no purpose to me anyway. I noticed right away after the vasectomy my cum was more of a clear liquid instead of the whiteness it had before. However, I read that sperm accounted for just 3% of the volume of ejaculate so I just rolled with it. Miss those white puddles though!

I went to the urologist yesterday for my normal 6 month checkup. My PSA again came back essentially "0" and that's 7 years after my RRP. However, he asked me to make sure I wasn't taking testosterone shots. He reiterated that as my cancer had been in the margins I was to never do the testosterone shots. I understand that his policy is not universal but he sure holds to that policy. He about freaked when he had previously found that my GP had put me on shots a couple of years ago. They did make me feel a bit better. I don't remember my T score but it does tend to be way in the bottom of the tank.

Just wondering about something I read. I do the pellets, but I read that using any kind of T replacement caused testicles to shrink! Now I’m feeling my balls to see if it happens.
Has anyone else heard about this?

Does anybody know . . . If you stop T therapy, do you regain testicle size?

I have been using Androgel gel on my shoulders for several years now, with wonderful results--better erections, higher libido, more energy, able to work out more and form muscle...the only negative is my testicles have shrunk, because they no longer function...
