OK, I'll bite.

I'm not a medical professional of any kind. On this topic I don't even have any experience. Ask your doctor and follow his/her advice.

I don't have links hand to post. However, based on my feeble memory of what I have read this is my response:

What is safe? There is a statistically increased infection rate for implant revisions or replacements as well as a decreased rate of satisfaction. Of course there is a risk with any surgery. In this case it is increased. That's life. But what are the options? Personally, if I had an implant that failed I'd want it replaced unless I was too old, feeble or otherwise not able to utilize it or there was there was something else going on that really multiplied the risk factor beyond the base risk of a revision.

Good luck

Good morning gents; King of infection here to weigh in on this topic. I developed infection and did not know it until it was almost too late. I went into septic shock and was taken to emergency surgery. My implant could not be saved and was removed. After 6 months of healing, I was re-implanted and everything is great. :)

Please create a signature. It makes things much easier to answer your questions without asking a lot of questions. Here's how you do it
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "user control panel"

Then under the big letters "User Control Panel" there is a row of words... select "Profile"

Then down the left had side of the "User Control Panel" select "Edit Signature" (You might have Create Signature or something. I don't know exactly what you'll get because I already have a signature to edit)

Most guys put something like what I have, but you can put whatever you want. Here is mine -
51 years old, married 29 years. Implanted Mar 30/17 by Dr. Brock of London, Ont, CANADA. (AMS 700 CX 18 + 2). Had implant removed Apr 29/17 due to Septic Shock. Liposuction By Dr. Gan and re-implant by Dr. Brock (AMS LGX 15 + 2) Dec 14/17.

Don't get too carried away with the doctor like his name, address, phone number, etc (anything that looks like advertising for him).. you can certainly say Dr. Jones (great Dr.)

Can you please be sure to put your city, state/province and country.

If you need further help, please ask, that's what I'm here for.

First implant Dec 2014 failed July 2017 second implant Oct 2017. Reservoir moved out of place Jan 2018, repaired April 2018. Thankful I never had any major infections. Wouldn't do any of it again, but glad I did it both times. Only reason I wouldn't do it again is because I lost too much length and width due to 20yrs ED and prostate surgery. Don't have enough dick left to get the job done.

Good Afternoon,

I'm on my third implant. The first failed after 10 years. The second after 24 months. I have had no difficulty with infection of any kind. In my experience, if pre-op cleaning is adequate, operative preparation and maintenance of sterile fields, and post of prophylaxis is followed, the possibility of infection is around 1%. Most of this has to do with conditions during surgery, and compliance with meds post-op. I'm doing well.

Agreed except, my septic shock was 1 month post Op. We have no idea what caused it but it can be fatal.

I have always head that the revision implant is usually larger than the previous implant. I know in my own case I went from a 18cm + 3 rear tip to a 21 cm + 3 1/2 cm, but the original implant was undersized by a Houston doctor. Not sure how by much but Dr Kramer worked his compassionate and caring repair job.
