Risk of porn?

Postby BillyBobTMS » Sat Jul 07, 2018 12:07 pm

I have seen a few links on FT that lead to porn, or at least it turns out to be porn once I am there. I clicked on a few and watched them. It seems like most of the links- or at least the ones I clicked on originally that were embedded in posts here, had the name "hamster" in them, believe it or not. But I'm not sure.

Any way, I was already feeling like maybe I should not be looking at some of that stuff(no judgement guys, just talking about for myself), and closed it down. And a bit later a scary feeling hit me: what if some of that was with underage folks? Certainly all appeared to be adults, but some were also obviously young even if adults. How would I know if they slipped someone under age in their video? Then it occurred to me: I really have NO WAY of knowing the age of the people in the video!

And then that got me paranoid about - if they did slip some one underage in there- could I find myself in trouble after viewing such a thing, even if there was no indication at all that the law might be broken?

Forgetting about any moral implications for right now, is it even safe to view this stuff? Could laws be being broken?

Or is it: if they were showing videos that broke laws on this regard, would they not be so readily available and easy to find, because law enforcement would be already after them?

What do you think: is it dangerous to ever click on a link that is supposed to lead to adult material, because maybe it won't actually be adults in the video, despite appearances? I think I will just stay away in the future to be safe, and for other reasons(personal). But is that being overly cautious? I suspect porn is viewed by millions every day, and I suppose most of these viewers are not getting in trouble with the law. But maybe I am wrong.

Thoughts, anyone?

I'm surprised no one has an opinion on this. I know from the several links that have been provided that at least some her sometimes watch porn. I guess they must feel safe- legally speaking- in doing so?

For me the biggest risk of porn is sheer boredom. Sex is boring unless you're doing it. Watching it is like watching paint dry.

I wouldn’t worry about that. It’s not like you’re purposely searching for something illegal. On the other hand, I would worry about these sites potentially messing your computer up.

Short answer: You can relax and be assured nobody will be kicking down your door for clicking on a link that took you to “hampster” site. Xhampster is a very popular site with millions of users and is very diligent about keeping illegal content of their site as they would risk closure and legal troubles. Assuming you are in the states... he big sites like youporn, xvidoes, and xhampster all work within the regulations of legal content. They have too much to lose in memberships and site traffic advertising revenue.

Long answer: Clicking on any link you are not completely sure where it will take you is very risky and could definitely lead you to the dark side of the web. I would be concerned more with clicking on a link that ends up giving your PC a bug or maleware that can be expensive if they get into your banking sites.

I have visited sites for porn and have never encountered anything that I would be worried about being illegal. Pretty sure the stuff you are worried about is harder to find than a nasty PC virus.

Good point, plus frustration if you are in a no sex situation. But some- that are more or less porn- have been of an educational style, i.e. "watch what I can do with my new implant". But once you get there, there are thumnails for lots of other stuff, and I must confess to clicking on a few and getting carried away with a nostalgia and longing about the old days, thinking "that guy in that video with the nice looking gal could have easily been me. I remember those days!". But, at least until I get my implant, no need to torture myself or allowing myself to even get to the point of boredom.

Excellent, good to know. I was aware of the potential of computer invasion, but with often updated anti virus, firewall, VPN on(in recent years) a MAC computer, I have somehow avoided problems for 25+ years. Though I'm sure I have been to many a questionable site though mostly non porn. But your warning is well taken. Caution is required!

But thanks for your short answer, that is exactly what I was wondering about. Though I started out with other older guys like me showing off their implant results, after awhile I found myself watching videos with some obviously youger folks. Apparently adults, of legal age, but how could I really know? I can't. These days, I'm not sure the law would care whether you knew or not. But good to know that these sites you have listed work within the law. Hopefully in all ways, but I'm sure there are still risks in the malware department

Personally the only one I want to get hard for is my wife. Anything else is a distraction. I know that being a man, it doesn't work that way. In that respect we are all like our fellow non human animals. In the wild when a female comes into heat for the first time, some male pops her immediately. I'm glad we are more advanced than that. But each to his or her own. Live and let live.

Threat of porn is everywhere. Just always know who you're talking to buddy, and be careful with how much you say. This is supposed to be a support group for guys with a very serious/ private problem. Yes, we will talk about sex and we will talk about our shared problem with each other. I hope everything we say stays here though!

I helped create 4 beautiful (obnoxious brat) kids and those days are done I hope. I am not clipped (47) and my wife hasn't hit menopause yet (45); #5 is still possible, but we both say hell no!! Also looking for a way to be the best power tool she'll ever know, and hoping she doesn't decide to upgrade.
