Thoughts?

Postby HLB52111 » Mon Jun 29, 2026 3:24 pm

Hi again guys. Yes I’m back. Kind of at a loss for ideas and what to do next. As you may recall I am a 74 year old straight male. Happily married to my 13 years younger wife. It has been a wild ride so far. I suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2012, my memory not so good now. I now keep a daily diary on my IPad to help me remember. I spent 1 month in a regular hospital in and out of a coma. After 1 month in a regular hospital I was transferred to Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Boston,MA. Where I spent another 3 months in the rehab hospital. Spaulding really got me up and walking and starting my long journey back to reality. Finally after 4.5 months in hospital I was sent home on Oct. 2, 2012 I was 60 years old. Oh boy, this is hard for me trying to recall. I spent about 6 months to a year in out patient rehab. Some where after my return home I kind of checked out of my marriage. No hugs,no kissed,no I love yous. My wife kept me fed and safe at home. She told me this was the new reality of our married life. She said she felt more like a care giver instead of a wife. I kept at it, checked out for 13 years. In August of 2025 my wife was hospitalized with kidney stones she spent a week in hospital then came home for a week or two and then returned to hospital due to sepsis of her body or blood. She thinks it was caused by the antibiotics she was on due to kidney stones, So she went back into hospital for another week due to sepsis. I was not allowed to visit her during her second stay.
Shortly after her return home I realized that I had almost lost the girl of my dreams. I apologized for my behavior and vowed to be a better husband. Over this 13 year period I had become impotent, or so I thought. Which brings me to the reason for this post. In early March of 2026 I visited a Urologist looking for help. Told him I had tried Viagra to no avail and was looking for help. From March to June we tried various treatments Cialis, intrauretheral gels, and then tried increased doses of Cialis two 20 mg pills per dose. The Cialis at increased doses seems to be most promising. 3 erections so far. My wife is recovering from shoulder surgery in early June and not able to have sex. She has her arm in a big sling for 6 to 9 weeks. All this has brought me to this posting. This DR.does not give me a good feeling about my treatment for impotence. He told me his practice does implants but it is done by another Dr. in his practice, not him. I am not leaning toward the implant, it is more that I am aware of that option if needed. I’m considering leaving this practice in search of a different DR. Who I hope I would have more confidence in. My wife said why go to another practice and start all over? Then I thought maybe a different DR. In the same practice. Maybe the one who does implants. Again I am not locking myself into an implant, just looking for a Dr. that I feel more confident in. So what would you guys do? Any thoughts or ideas? I appreciate your help.

I was reviewing notes on my IPad and came up with some more items. My current Dr. recomennded that I try a VED. My wife and I asked him about it and he said there are hundreds of them on Amazon you should be able to find one. We stumbled around on Amazon an ordered a VED but had no instructions on how to use it. We did find a video online. Again my TBI brain is challenged. After the VED fiasco the Uro Dr. ordered up two 1 ml syringes of bi mix intraurheral gel from PharmLabs. When we asked about instructions he said it is on the internet. I kind of stumbled along and found a video. My first attempt I wound up injecting the whole 1 ml syringe in about 30 minutes and had an erection. My second attempt i spaced it out over 60 to 90 minutes and got one erection for about 10 minutes and then it disappeared. Don’t think I did it correctly 2nd time. Not sure this Dr, is right for me.

I would find a new urologist/physician.. there are plenty out there, go to the links below and find a physician.. not necessarily an implant but they should be able to help you.
