Re: lib-01

I have no background in medical science, but this drug is being touted as better than existing prescription medicatios for ED.
This is a direct quote from the Wikipedia page for LIB-1:
The drug is described as a potential first-in-class medication. LIB-01 produces non-acute long-lasting pro-erectile effects in rodents and humans, with short-term dosing resulting in gradually increasing improvement that is then sustained for weeks despite cessation of dosing.
I'm in my early 70's. Serious problems with ED started in my early 60's. ED drugs were eventually not effective enough. Aquired VED pump and constriction rings in 2024 which provides usable erections for sexual activity.

Re: lib-01
I wasn't familiar with Lib-01 so asked Grok, and thought I'd pass this along.

Key Features
o It is a semisynthetic analogue of alkaloids (such as libiguin A and B) from the root bark of the Madagascar plant Neobeguea mahafalensis, which has a long history of traditional use for male sexual issues.
o Unlike common ED drugs like Viagra (sildenafil) or Cialis (tadalafil), which are PDE5 inhibitors that act locally on blood flow in the penis, LIB-01 works centrally in the brain by acting as an indirect melanocortin MC4 receptor (MC4R) potentiator. It increases gene expression of both the MC4 receptor and its natural agonist, enhancing signaling in the neural and vascular pathways involved in erections.
o A major differentiator is its long-lasting effect: Short-term dosing (e.g., a few days) can produce gradually increasing improvements in erectile function that last for weeks (up to 8 weeks in some studies), rather than requiring on-demand use before sex. This could address high discontinuation rates with current treatments.
