Anyone have Holep proceedure for Bph?
I am scheduled for holep in November. I had Aquablation done 2 years ago and still having problems with waiting to urinate, slow urination, and stopping and starting. I did some online research and holep seemed like a good way to go. However, I would appreciate some comments from those who have went through the holep proceedure. Thanks for your help!
Age 74 Implanted 01/02/2024, Dr.Clavell AMS LGX, Ed for almost 20yrs. Cialis tried caused vision loss, Trimix also caused vision problems. Married 36 years.

Re: Anyone have Holep proceedure for Bph?
I had HoLEP procedure done nearly 4 years ago now.
The prostate had been gradually growing for years prior and the advice was always to manage it with medication. But symptoms just got worse and worse and life was becoming more and more difficult with frequent urination.
Then one day, when I was a long way from home it totally closed up the urethra and I spent 3 days in and out of emergency until my bladder nearly ruptured. Left with a suprapubic catheter and a painful flight home.
They managed to short list me for HoLEP but I still had to wait 2 weeks.
All up I was off work for a month and the healing process was a good 6 months, but a year after surgery I was living a “normal” life again.
Only ongoing issue is retrograde ejaculation, but that’s a small price to pay to be able to urinate properly.
I see from your signature you have an implant. I don’t know what the implications are for that. Talk to your surgeon.
For me, I don’t know whether it’s associated with the BPH or other causes, but I’ve had progressively worsening ED for 15 years, and become unresponsive to pills since HoLEP. Booked in for an implant early next year, and if the pain and suffering of the implant is equivalent to the pain and suffering of HoLEP it will all be worth it.
So my recommendation is get it done before your situation becomes critical.

20 years of ED, initially managed by pills. Increasingly severe BPH, emergency HoLEP prostatectomy 4 years ago. Fixed the prostate but pills just don't work any more. Solution is decided.
Currently booked for surgery Jan 2026.
