Building Tolerance to Cialis

Postby sidb416 » Tue Jun 27, 2023 11:41 am

Male 38, I've had ED for 10 years, after using Propecia for hair loss. Recently started dating again and using Cialis, before sex, and it helps. I have no other health issues (high blood pressure, heart disease etc).

Has anyone consistently used Cialis for 10+ years? Or have people found that it stops working after a while?

The doctor I spoke to says, for some people it stops working, if the ED is due to physical health issues like high blood pressure etc.

The ED itself has probably worsened some. If it still mostly works I'd suggest trying some novelty/sex shop cock rings. Many guys find they give a good boost.

I don't believe the body develops a tolerance, as in reduced effectiveness for PDE5 type drugs. If everything remains the same it should continue to work. Anecdotally I used sildenafil for 15 years or so until I was sidelined with abdominal surgery. I will say I had to increase the dosage to maintain effectiveness during the 15 year period. I believe that was the result of the cumulative effect of hypertension, which can lead to reduction in blood flow at various locations around the body. If the physiology of your ED cause gets worse then you'll have to increase dosage or try other alternatives.

I'm in a similar boat to you (39, Accutane-induced ED). I made and appointment with a local urologist, and asked him about PDe5 inhibitor drugs losing effectiveness over time. He said that it is not a foregone conclusion that they will lose effectiveness overtime, and you can try alternating to viagra or other drugs. I think your doctor is right, to more additional health issues that are piled on top of the ED (diabetes, blood pressure, obesity, etc) it's going to reduce the effectiveness of Cialis at a more rapid pace.

Propecia and other DHT inhibitors are a major cause of ED.

This is a controversial subject but I believe that tolerance to Cialis is real. I used Cialis for 10 years with excellent results and then suddenly it became erratic. I changed to udenafil and it is working beautifully: it is my #1 ED drug.

Before you move to more invasive therapies, I suggest you consult your doctor and give other PDE-5 inhibitors a try.

How does udenafil compare to avanafil?

Udenafil lasts much longer (24h vs 3h). Both are excellent when it comes to side effects.
