Vertica Device

One of the newer treatments for ED, Shock Wave Therapy is still in it's experimental stages. While the treatment often sounds promising, it is only effective for a few patients and the results are not permanent. Informed Consumers are the best patients!

Just got a new Vertical device. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on using it or what to expect?

Used it for two weeks so far 3 x per week. Nothing to report yet.

Sometimes a bit painful on the right side of my shaft on higher settings. But only in some places

I’m waiting for the US study to come out. I’ve had my eye on the vertica for a few years now.

I got fucked with shockwave therapy. I’d rather have set fire to my money.

The cost of the vertica doesn’t bother me. I’d happily spend half a mil getting what ails me fully sorted. But if I threw money at every snake oil treatment, I’d be skint, and very disappointed.

Are you saying that based on the study that had an inclusion criteria of a minimum IIEF score?

If so, I wouldn’t extrapolate that the developers of the Vertica have no faith that it wouldn’t work for severe cases.

It is to my understanding (with the assistance of ChatGPT) that when it comes to novel therapies for any illness where improvement is gauged with self-reporting, they prefer to test it on mild cases rather than more severe ones.

IIEF scores are likely to increase in absolute values more with mild cases than severe ones. E.g an IIEF of 15 to 20 looks impressive. 3 to 4 doesn’t look impressive, despite both increases being proportionately the same. As the study wasn’t placebo-controlled, that complicates things further with assessing improvement with severe cases.

Severe cases also “cap out” a low IIEF. If your IIEF is very low, a large improvement may not even show on the IIEF. For example, if you cannot get any tumescence at all, being able to get a semi-chub is a huge improvement. But your IIEF won’t change.

Having defended Vertica enough, I want to make it clear that my hope for the Vertica being good is on the fence.

On the one hand, they’ve invested a lot of money into the Vertica. If they knew it was shit they wouldn’t bother with the US study and would instead continue selling it in the rest of the world to suckers. If this US study shows that it’s shit, they can kiss their rest-of-world customers goodbye.

On the other hand, just how much of the improvement in the initial study was placebo? The placebo effect is no doubt stronger in a device that you stick on your dick, which heats it up and goes “beep boop” when compared to placebo pills. If we look at IIEF increases of pde5is vs placebo, and assume that the placebo effect of the Vertica is equal to that of placebo pills, then the Vertica is slightly less effective than pde5is alone.

Lol I will if the US study is good. It ends this month, so we will get the results some time after that. Who knows exactly when.

But when will it be available? Presumably, the study is meant as input to the FDA for approval as a medical device for sale. I've gotten mixed commentary on whether FDA approval is necessary - first, I was told that it was the type that was non-invasive and could be sold OTC but I am now told by one of the testing centers that Oh-Med cannot, or will not, sell without approval. As an RCT participant, I was promised a free device at the end of the test but now not until approval is gained.
