New Guy: Background story & Current situation

Postby adidasman777 » Wed May 03, 2023 2:31 am

Hi All,

New to the forum.

A little background information and also the current situation, maybe you can relate to some of it.

First Encounter
I remember my first encounter with ED was when I was about 23 years old. Remember making out and fooling around with my girlfriend at that time and not getting hard at all. I remember her feeling me down there and she probably noticed that I wasn't hard. I was a little panicked since I was young and it was not normal for me since I have always had a high libido. After that experience I tried to minimize porn, exercise, eat healthy and started taking some basic supplements like Zinc and so on, also did kegel exercises. Also since I had a high stress job at that time which required me to sit for long periods of time, I realized that stress and long periods of sitting on the prostate are bad for libido/erections. So at that time I made lifestyle changes and I had some good results with that but it was a real wake up call I realized that you cannot take erections for granted.

Fast Forward
Fast forward to today and I am close to 40 years old. In the last couple of years having difficulty with ED more seriously than before and have tried a few different things to solve this. I am still living a healthy lifestyle but in spite of that my erections have been becoming unreliable. Another problem is that I have recently started dating a 20 year old girl (not a bad problem I know  ) and she has a good sex drive and seems like she likes long sessions of sex before she reaches an orgasm. Which is great if you have reliable erections but this is the problem... So I have been having difficulty keeping up with her and worry that it is a matter of time before I can't please her anymore. For the last couple of years I have been using viagra & cialis which worked well in the beginning but now it also seems unreliable. I was wondering if low testosterone might be my problem so I was also supplementing with testosterone & DHEA which seems to help with libido, feel a little hornier but don't know if it really helped with firmer erections. Lately added arginine and yohimbine too just to see if it works. yohimbine definitely helps but I felt really weird when I took it the first couple of times. Also it cannot be taken indefinitely, you need to cycle on and off it so it is not ideal. I have tried Shock Wave therapy a few times but can't really say it worked or not.

So yes most of the time I can still have erections good enough for sex BUT I basically have to take:
-Cialis daily
-Viagra before sex
-Testosterone, DHEA,
- Arginine and Yohimbine from time to time.
-live healthy lifestyle

And in spite of the above Still it has not been totally reliable and don't always feel confident, wondering if I have a venous leak. I had at some point used a penis pump and jelqing and in my opinion my erections have been worse after that. Anyone else had this experience?

Only thing I haven't tried is trimix injections but to me I think it isn't really an option at all.... and I have heard that injections also wear of after a while...cause scarring etc etc.

Going Forward
I am at the point where I am considering getting an implant rather sooner than later since it seems eventually it would be inevitable. I have the opportunity now to date a young woman and feel like I should rather have great sex now than when I am much older? Seems to me an implant and a young girlfriend/spouse is a perfect match?

So either I keep on using medication until it basically stops working and possibly have unreliable erections until then, then get an implant anyways OR have an implant ASAP and enjoy sex while I have the opportunity to date younger women?

I have looked at inflatable vs malleable, and my initial idea is that malleable would be more ideal for me? I want something that can last long time and be reliable. Also I don't want young women to see/feel anything strange in my balls, they might not be mature enough to handle straight talk initially. As I understand an inflatable would almost definitely require a few revisions in my lifetime and each would require a few months of no sex at all whereas a malleables are simple, reliable and very unlikely to require revisions. I have read that there is a chance of erosion though. Still I am Seriously considering Tactra since I have seen there is a porn star on here having a Tactra. Anyone else have a Tactra or other malleable and using it on younger women successfully?

Welcome to FT.
I think before you make up your mind you need to talk to a men's sexual health urologist. There are other things to consider, and they can advise you best.
Your story reads like so many others here. ED sucks no matter the age. Best of luck moving forward.

Adidasman777. First get it out of your head that ED can be treated successfully long term by yourself. You say that you're on testosterone. Is that prescribed or are you buying it online. If its online it is very likely fake or not of the stated strength.
Go to a compentent doctor & check your blood pressure, cholesterol & blood sugar levels. Those things if untreated can cause blood flow problems. Be aware that ED hits something like 40% of men in your age group. Welcome to middle age. Oh, & welcome to FT. Read as many of the archived posts as you can.

Good advice from Old Guy and Gt1956. Do get testosterone checked by a urologist or endocrinologist. Maybe it's been low all your adult life. If you're taking the gray market "testosterone" or the over-the-counter "testosterone" advertised everywhere, Gt's right: it could be anything; you don't know what you're getting.

Large urology practices usually have a men's sexual health urologist; small practices, maybe not. Find the largest practice in your area.

Many FT guys, including me, are happy with injections after years of doing it.
Age 78 in 2023. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.

Thanks for all the replies. I took some advice from above and talked to a different urologist, he seems to think an implant is a possible solution and basically the decision is now up to me.
