Hello good people

Postby Maddawg » Thu Oct 06, 2022 11:06 am

Hi guys I'm coming in from Raleigh NC. I've been battling ED for about 7-8 years. I believe it's due to the amount of Zoloft or the mixture of medicines that I've been on since 2004 trying to combat respiratory issues I picked up while in Iraq. I guess I could have thrown in I'm a 40yo USMC medically retired vet :) I was diagnosed with PTSD as well as severe Asthma. For PTSD I was prescribed 200mg of Zoloft a day which gave me side effects of DE for about 2 yrs. I could go for 2-3 hours before finishing.( that gets old quick ;) ) Then the side effects turned into being very limp and not being able to get it up.

Then came the Viagra, Cialis and caverject. Depression about being young and needing all of these things couple with rings set in and I started drinking heavily. My doctor gave me a couple options on Friday of up the dosage of caverject from 10 to 20 and you can do it every 4 days. Problem is my wife and I are a lot more active than 2x a week. The other option is IPP. I opted for the increase in caverject but 4 days later I asked for at least a consultation for the IPP. IMHO all of the meds were prescribed to fix something and contributed to my current condition.

I was surprised to find out the VA would pay for the surgery. My Dr mentioned that the one of the founders of the IPP used to work at the Durham VA center. Does anyone have recommended Dr.'s from the Raleigh area. Or better yet has anyone been sent to a dr from the Durham VA? I think I'm making the right choice I talked it over with my wife and she is supportive and understands a little bit more or what I've been going through mentally in efforts to still be able to perform. I got to the point where I was buying the Cialis and Viagra off line and with fentanyl being out there it's gotten scary. I don't want to be taken my life in my own hands by ordering stuff from the dark web. Blood pressure also came into play with the pills and the drinking. I had to sit down and ask myself well why do you drink so much nowadays. I think I've been coping with the issue via whiskey treatment. This website made me realize that I'm not alone in these conditions

you're not alone. fellow vet here as well. i never felt quite right taking the PTSD meds, thank god for that. oral meds stopped working for me but injections still work but i think a lot about doing the surgery and what scares me is having the VA do it. even though i didn't take the zoloft, i still have the DE problem and injections only make it worse for me at least but the sex we have now is great that its not that big an issue. id love to hear what you find out as most likely i will go that route when it comes to it for me. i don't like going to the VA for anything but that is just me and the facilities where i live and not yours. you have many friends here that are willing to help that is for sure. take care and welcome.

My VA doc said they don't do it in house anymore and it's out sourced. they will pay for it though

Welcome. Viagra and Trimix failed for me after a few years use. They were a pain to use because you almost needed to plan those times with the wife. Even though all my meds came from a pharmacy I was still unsure what I was putting in my body, and what possible long term side effects they may have. I'd be afraid of any black-market drugs too.
ED caused me to become depressed. I turned into a nasty asshole, lost my ego and confidence. Now I'm happy and can keep the wife happy.
Good luck on your moving forward.
