After exhausting all other practical options, I committed to an implant on May 17, 2022. There are times I wonder if I had known just how uncomfortable the recovery would have been if I would have gone through with it. After reading some posts, I am somewhat more assured I have done the right thing, despite the lingering discomfort and the upcoming pain I fear.

I had a Coloplast Titan installed at a very reputable hospital in Los Angeles by younger and empathetic urologist. I was comfortable with my choice from the beginning as his mannerisms were and are so relaxed and natural.

Apparently, my surgery was not unique with the penile and scrotum swelling and pain. I stayed on the pain meds for 5 days after my overnight at the hospital and iced constantly. Urination was painful and often for a week or more. My penis was fully erect and that was causing significant pain at the head of my penis. The pain reminded me of how I felt the last times I used Quadmix, increasing the dosage to make it work. (Ultimately, the self injections were causing so much bruising and swelling, it lead to my decision to have the implant.)

At my first return appointment with the doctor, I asked if he could please release some of the pressure on my penis and he did - oh, was that painful!! He calmly said, take a deep breath and I was tapping my feet rapidly to distract myself from the needles and pins in my scrotum!

I return again in 5 days to release the erection (thank god! It's now a careful for what you wish for...a constant erection is not good!) I fear the upcoming pain of squeezing the pump, both him doing it and me having to practice and exercise the pump.

For those who are veterans of an implant, can you offer some words of encouragement! Will I be able to ride a bike again anytime soon? Will the feeling of having a pin cushion in my ball sack go away? Will hard erections hurt as they stretch the penis? Will the faucet close as before, stopping the forever dripping as I pee go away? When will things, if ever, feel normal again?

First of all take a deep breathe and relax. You’re going through the healing of a major surgery on a very sensitive area. I found with the Coloplast titan you must squeeze your penis while squeezing the deflate buttons to fully deflate. Actually had a Coloplast Rep tell me that during my patient educator meeting. I think that will take care of the peeing problem, it did for me.

Most people once deflated give the pump a squeeze to change from deflate to inflate so to speak. I give a quick squeeze after deflation.

I can ride my bike easily for an hour with no issues. Worst case I’ve had so far is I inflate equivalent to 1-2 pump squeezes.

Yes when you start to cycle your titan daily it’ll likely stop hurting as it is probably stretching things out.

Ice, ice, ice is your best friend for the first couple weeks. Use a bag of frozen peas or corn.

It’ll take around 6 weeks for you to fully heal and you’ll be so thankful that you did this. The short term pain is 100% worth the long term gain. You will not even realize you have the implant in due time. You’ll know because you’ll likely have a bigger penis than before even when flaccid but what guy doesn’t want that problem?

hi who was the surgeon?

Implant is a big surgery to a very sensitive area of a man's body. I was sore for close to 5 months. And I remember doc trying to deflate me at 2 weeks, thought I was gonna pass out. At 5 1/2 weeks he deflated me with very little pain. It felt darn good to not have a 60% erection anymore.
Never used ice but after incision was healed a hot bath most mornings was my pain relief.

I see him tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, June 14th. We are scheduled to deflate my penis and receive instruction on how to inflate/deflate on his schedule at least two more weeks. If things go according to plan, my newly erect penis may get its first real try out!

I had my 30 day follow-up appointment with my urologist yesterday. After instructing and watching me inflate/deflate a few times successfully, he gave me a fist "high-five" and said I was ready to go, and could use it tonight if the opportunity arose!!

Well, the opportunity didn't arise, as my dear wife saw I was still experiencing discomfort and didn't want pain to spoil the "first time". It may be ready to be unleased, but I am not - not just yet. The time will come (unintentional pun) soon, however.

I can manipulate the pump and the deflating mechanism pretty well. I am sure it will become second nature in time. Meanwhile, my scrotum is still saying to my balls, "two's company, three's a crowd", speaking about the pump. There is still some irritation when sitting - a poking feeling - like brush bristles. My penis, when fully deflated (believe me - a tremendous relief versus the constant erection for 4 weeks), is still a bit sensitive along the ends of the inflatable shafts near the head. The coloplast is a bit rigid when relaxed and may present an embarrassment when swimming around my grandkids!

Otherwise, I am much more comfortable than I was a month ago and a week ago, and expect, as I've been told, to get even better in time.
No regrets. Looking forward to a happy, healthy sexual relationship with my lovely wife!
