Concerned about ED

Postby KenJ1947 » Fri Jun 12, 2020 3:15 am

I'm 72 and never had issues with size or performance. Then, 6-7 years ago, I started having softer and softer erections. My doc gave me a prescription for Viagra which gave me severe headaches and stuffy nasal passages. I got one for Cialis which worked for a year or so.

However, cialis stopped working at a time my wife had some medical problems that decreased her libido very significantly. So, after 46 years of marriage, I didn't complain. Porn worked for a while, but was not that satisfying. The good news is that my wife's libido has returned (with a vengeance--LOL), but my performance has not.

I've had 12 weeks of penile acoustic wave therapy with little success. I've started Kegel training and am actively "waiting" for results--I really enjoy the program and do it while sunbathing in the nude, based on some reading about vitamin D and its effects.

That's my brief story. I'm here looking for information and encouragement about getting over ED.

Welcome to FT. There is a lot of info on here to read and get informed about our man issue.
After ED hit me around 50 I started using Viagra. It worked for a while then as I had to increase the dosage I started getting massive headaches the next day. It also became unreliable even at higher doses. Started with Trimix and it worked for a couple years, but then it got unreliable, gave me headaches and a sore penis for a day. Then I switched to Quadmix and that worked for a very short time and then the same side effects as Trimix. Next step- implant.
Yes I was sore for some time afterwards but now I can get it up anytime for as long as I can tolerate having a hard on.

So I would say since your wife has gotten her libido back, if you want to have sex it's time to go permanent. I know you are a bit older, but if you are in good health it shouldn't be too terrible of a recovery.

Thanks for the welcome. I think my next step will be getting a urologist to give me trimix or one of the injectables. I haven't thought about an implant so far. I am also beginning to use a VED, but I hate the feeling of the constrictor ring.

If i might ask, is the feeling using the implant a natural feeling or do you notice the implant during sex? The VED doesn't feel natural.

Yes, welcome and thanks for asking. I, too did not like trying to have sex with a constriction ring on. It gave us a time limit, was uncomfortable and my partner said it alarmed her because my penis started to turn purple!

The only feeling the implant gives me during coitus is joy, confidence and FREEDOM from fear of penile collapse. Physical sensation is exactly what I remember from before E.D.

I also advise using the VED twice a day to cycle your penis (and blood flow through your penile tissues) to maintain elasticity and size. There are references to VED cycling protocols (sorry, I don't have links) scattered throughout FrankTalk. I prefer the 30 minute, 1 minute fully erect inside the vacuum followed by release of the vacuum down to full flaccid and repeating for 30 minutes. No use of constriction ring. Do not OVER-vacuum. Twice a day.

As a man waiting for an implant date these positive comments are always encouraging. Thank you.
I know that the research indicates there is a high satisfaction rate of men who have had IPP /implant.
One of things I'm not very clear about is the variation of reports on the glans. It seems to me the glans contributes a fair amount of the sensation with normal , pre-implant sex. The glans blood supply, although reported as independent from the corpus cavernousum, does not get firm for most men after implant placement. Some men report difficulty climaxing. How do you tie this information together? I don't think that for most men the implant extends, much if at all, into the glans. The implant just replaces tissue that was compress to get the implant in. What am I missing? Again thank you to yourself and many others that help take some of the stress out of this irreversible decision.

There are seven different PDE-5 inhibitors available today: sildenafil, vardenafil, lodenafil, udenafil, tadalafil, avanafil and mirodenafil.

If one stops working for you, you could try another and see if it works. Consult your doctor and ask him which one is best you for.

Cialis stopped working for me too, I changed to avanafil and now I'm on udenafil.
Age 40. Psychogenic ED for over 20 years. Current regimen: Udenafil 200 mg, oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg, Seredyn.

Darn tootin' VED sex feels unnatural. But it will do if you two can make it work. My lover and I tried it twice, but I used the VED entirely for rehabilitation therapy (no constriction ring, not for masturbation, just to maintain elasticity, blood flow and size).

By all reports I have read, sex with an implant feels almost entirely natural for most women and very close to natural for most implanted men. The only time I notice the implant during sex is pumping it up. During the actual sex act, the implant feels entirely me.
