Just found you - Quick hello from the UK

Postby RugbyDave » Tue Dec 27, 2011 12:28 pm

Just came across via a link I stumbled across - wish I'd found it a few years ago.

Open Radical Prostatectomy (told nerve sparing) in 2008 after being diagnosed at 49 with Pc.

Left hospital with nothing and not too much advice - was pretty much left to it for the first year, had plenty of shrinkage and my head was all over the place.

The best thing I did was move house. New area, new doctor and I was referred to a fantastic urology nurse specialist close to where I live now. He suggested all the usual viagra, cialis and MUSE. Tried em all without either much success or they had too many side effects for me. The big change came though once I starting using a pump (brilliant invention).

Now I'm pretty much back to my old size, still no spontaneous erection but at least I can find it again. Trying Caverjet Injections now, had my first last Friday, small dose but it worked - walked out with a smile I can tell you and I might add a stiffy!!! Back this friday coming for some instruction and to have a go myself.

Anyway - thats me. Will keep you posted.

Dave,
Good for you!! Sorry to hear that you were not properly educated right after your surgery, but glad you found FrankTalk. You will find most of your questions already asked/answered within the forums, just take some time and search. I strongly suggest that you also come into the chat room often. You will meet the people who make this place so special.

Dave: It is just crazy that Dr do not educate us as they should. Welcome to FT. Like the other Dave said.. join us in the chat room. I know it will be a bit tricky with the time difference. Good luck with the Injections I have been useing them for a year and love what it does to Jr..

Dave:

Welcome. Like you, a doc with great surgery skills but no interest in hard. Glad things are looking up!! This is a good place and you will find lots of support here. Pumping is great and with the added injections you now have a "fighting" chance. Keep up the pumping it matters over time!!

Please keep us post and join in when you can. There are a number of UK'ers here- we are everywhere and growing and getting better at defending ourselves as we seek equality in medical services and understanding for guys facing PCa as the ladies facing the scourge of breast cancer receive from the medical community.

Take care,

Regards,

Dave,

Welcome. Much in common, a urologist surgeon who doesn't like to talk. ED still at 3.5 years despite "nerve sparing" daVinci procedure. Hey at least I'm PSA undetectable so praise be!

Regards the ED I haven't gone the pump routine and the orals were like pouring good money after bad. Cialis had a noticeable effect but nowhere near enough and at nearly $30 a throw in New Zealand and no insurance cover for this I was getting very very despondent. Depression became part of my mix a few months ago and in desperation I enquired with an ED specialist about whether the injections I swore I would never resort to may have a rehab effect to get back on track. She was non-committal but when I discovered a couple of good forums I was encouraged to give them a try.

Caverject was not recommended as first course, due to the high chance of pain so they started with bimix. This had only slightly more effect than Cialis and after 5 increasing doses I was witched to Trimix. Wow! This is the good stuff and the loss of spontaneity of injecting is the only down-side. I have not only experienced erections 20 year olds would dream of but I am experiencing a feeling of the nerves damaged in surgery regenerating. I am trying to have an erection most days and inject about twice a week for a 100+% boner that stays up for at least 1.5 hours.

Be careful with dosage with the strong stuff as it can be a fine line and you may experience an INCREASE in senistivity with usage. Last night I was reaching for the sudomyl pills as I was still fully up at 3 hours and imagining a trip to the hospital - EEEK!

Welcome to FrankTalk Dave and Happy New Year.

I think that the best way for me to provide you with some info about ED is to share the story of my battle with ED.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65 and had never experienced any problem prior to that.
Viagra, Cialis, etc. did not work for me.
After much research and having the opportunity to speak with 2 men who underwent the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure, I had my Titan Implant Procedure December 13, 2007.
The Titan Penile Implant completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
I became a Coloplast Patient Educator in January 2008 in order to share my Pre-Implant and Post-Implant experiences with men still suffering from ED and its devastating side effects.
I just celebrated the Fourth Anniversary of my Titan Implant December 13th and my wife and I could not be happier with it.
The FT Group has a bunch of great guys who are always willing to reach out to other men suffering with ED.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to talk.

Bob
