Wish I had known about Franktalk years ago.

Wish I had known about Franktalk years ago. I'm scheduled for surgery Monday morning, 10/06/25 (AMS 700 LGX) . I've fought ED since I turned 60. Pills worked till 70, and it's been a fight since (I'm 74 YO now). Tried Trimix then Quadmix with very limited success. Had I discovered this site a few years earlier, I think I would have opted for the IPP surgery a long time ago.

Thanks for such a great site! I have no doubt I'll consult it Post-Op.

We will all be here for you. In the meantime, follow your doctors orders to the letter. Follow their orders and instructions even if it is different than something you read here. Different docs have different methods. Follow yours only.

And ice ice ice ice ice ice constantly for the first three days. Stay off your feet as much as possible for those first three days. Stay in bed. Rest. Ice.

Did I mention ice? LOL

The first few days of recovery are 80% ice. The other 20% is ice.

LOL. We’ll all be here for you and are eager to hear how it goes.

I've said the same thing many times. Didn't find Frank Talk until five months after my implant. So much good info here that all guys should know about if they have any sexual issues.

Well, my original surgery was on Monday, Oct 6th, to implant AMS 700 LGX. Unfortunately, I ended up being one of the 3% with a nick in the urethra. Left side was dilated without a problem, but right side, at the distal end (near the glans), the urethra was nicked. Surgeon had to abort the procedure at that point. He said I likely had a weakness in the urethra and the pressure from the dilation caused the tear. On the dilated left side, he inserted a semi-mailable rod to prevent disuse atrophy. I woke up with a catheter which I had to have in place for 30 days. Suffered a couple of big bleeds that afternoon, but those stopped later in the evening.

Fast forward to Nov. 5th and I was back in the hospital for catheter removal and a scope to determine if the urethra had healed. The surgeon also performed a Retrograde Urethrogram (RUG) where a contrast dye is inserted and x-rays performed to insure there is no leakage. All was good, but he said that I still needed to wait at least 3 months from the initial urethra tear. As an aside, I can tell you that having a catheter for 30 days in a sore dick with an implanted semi-mailable rod is miserable to say the very least.

Fast forward to Jan 21, and a new attempt. All went well, I'm home and I'm hopeful. I'm writing this with an ice pack on my scrotum and some discomfort, but not currently taking any pain meds. Surgeon said I should ice at least 3 times a day and that I could ice as much as I wanted, and I will.

So sorry you went through all of that. Great news though, welcome to the bionic brotherhood :D.
I also have an LGX, coming up to 11 months post op and very satisfied. Happy to answer any questions as you recover.

p.s. Can I suggest also posting in the Implants forum?

Glad it finally worked out. I hated having a catheter in for one day, can't imagine having one for 30 days.
Hope you heal up quickly. Post your story in the Implants section.
