Thank You

Hi, new guy. I am 66 and had first Lupron shot (to last 4 months) in Dec 11, then radiation in Jan-Feb 2012, and seeding in March. Second Lupron shot in April. My urologist wanted me to have another shot in Aug, but my radiation guy was happy with 8 months, so I didn't get another shot in Aug. I was expecting the hot flashes and ED to go away in a couple of weeks, but here it is almost 2 months later and the side effects are still around. I don't say that to discourage you, but to let you know things won't return to "normal" real fast. I recommend you get Dr. John Mulhall's book. I am sorry you don't have a wife to help you. There were times when I couldn't get up, but my wife's tender ministrations brought me up. Although now I need Viagra or Levitra to help get the job done. Be patient with yourself and consider doing the low dose of Viagra or Levitra like Dr. Mulhall recommends. God bless and be of good courage.

I am going to add a bit since I felt bad about mentioning my wife and you not having anyone to help. I will say there were times when the wife was snoring away and I didn't want to wake her, but wanted to get an erection as part of my "penile rehabilitation". So I would fondle myself. Sometimes I got a good erection and sometimes not. On one or two occasions I even woke up with morning wood--but usually not! So don't be discouraged it you can't make it happen on a certain day. But keep trying. As my urologist says, "Use it or lose it." In DIY mode, you might need to get a feather or something besides your own hands/fingers to stimulate you into getting an erection. Using moves like for masterbation doesn't give me an erection. I need "fondling" to achieve an erection. Experiment, see what works for you, but keep up the good work, if you catch my drift. My urologist told me that Wal-Mart sold Levitra for $10/pill. Expensive still and you need a prescription, but cheaper than Viagra. Bon courage.

Welcome Taarph,

From what I've been told, the side effects of Lupron really suck. It's true that getting cancer is not for wimps. ONe thing's for sure: there is definitely a solution out there for you--you just have to find it. Don't give up. All the guys on this site will be with you throught the journey. Repeat after me: "This is not acceptable."
