Relearning wanking

There is more to sex than an erect penis. How do you maintain your sexuality both for yourself and for your partner? What techniques do you use to give both of you a great, satisfying sex life? How do you explore your own body and sexuality now that the rules have changed?

Relearning wanking

Postby Josh_14_11 » Fri Nov 19, 2010 10:26 am

Without a lengthy background, let me pose two questions.

I'm 55; after a decade of occasional ED (nothing lasting or severe), I've realized that I need to 'use it or lose it,' which means a daily wank, or close to it. When I was younger, I would wank once or twice a week, and make love to my wife once a week. So here's the questions:

1. When you're not used to wanking daily, how do you increase frequency? Apart from porn--which I don't use--how do you psych yourself up to wank? A friend told me, "do it when you desire it," but if I did that, I'd only do it once or twice a week, and that's not frequently enough to maintain good EQ (erection quality).

2. What techniques do you use for getting it up in the first place? I know that seems elemental, but I'm relearning how to "handle" myself. Second Puberty 201. I'm not asking for wanking techniques--there are plenty of those available at Jackin World, etc. I'm just wondering what you guys use, manually speaking, to gain the initial erection.

1. Touch is a good starter if you’re not already horny form libido. Play around with yourself in those special spots known only to you. With both hands well lubricated, feel them slowly, purposefully with passion and desire. Lean back with your eyes closed, breath deeply and slowly; moan a little. :o

2. Thought is another good one. Fantasize making love to your wife in different positions. All those positions that are taboo; imagine them in your mind; start a firm, slow stroke while you fantasize; continue working those special spots with a bit more interest. 8-)

3. Combining both touch and thought simultaneously usually takes me to a place where even I blush, leaving me breathless and panting; and I’m not a shy person. ;)

Don't see the need to wank. I have nueropothy due to 17 years of diabetes. Accordingly, I need Viagra, a pump and a constriction band to get and maintain an erection. (I recently started on Testim and have been able to eliminate the Viagra and the pump on a number of occasions). In any event, I haven't masturbated in many years because I see no need to waist an endangered erection in my own hand. Since I need to plan my erections in advance, I plan them to occur when my wife and I can enjoy them together. Despite the preparation needed to achieve an erection, I am still able to engage in satisfying sexual activity 3 or 4 times a week. If I were to add wanking to my schedule, I don't believe my sexual performance would be as satisfying as I need a couple of days between ejaculations as it is now.

Why wank?

Postby Josh_14_11 » Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:20 am

If I get to a point where all I can do is get it up for love making, I wouldn't want to "waste an endangered erection," either. When ED started showing its ugly head from time to time, I thought I needed to cut back on wanking so that I could "save up" to help the refractory period in between love making.

But the more I ignored my dick, the more my dick ignored me. A couple bouts of prostatitis and epididymitis got my attention. I started seriously considering the cliche, "use it or lose it. My research led to studies done by Tampere University (Finland), Hospital, University of Nottingham, University of Bristol, Queen's University of Belfast, Uludag University (Turkey), University of Sheffield, Hackensack University Medical Center, Cambridge University and Harvard University. I'd be glad to send the links to anyone interested. Here's what I found:

Increased frequency of erection/orgasm/sex:
* Reduces prostatitis.
* Promotes healthier, more fertile sperm.
* In younger men, may be linked to increased risk of prostate cancer. (The reports on this vary. Cp. Harvard studies with Tampere studies)
* In older men, correlates to decreased risk of prostate cancer.
* Does not prevent prostate enlargmente in older men (BPH).
* Correlates to longevity, but the cause-effect is debatable.
* Increased frequency of erection helps maintain erectile function.

When it comes to sex in general, all the medical sites seemed to concur with the approach of, "use it or lose it."

That's why, as long as I can have a hand in it (pun intended), I want to keep wanking in between the times I'm making love to my wife. I'll use any medical devices or drugs I need to in the future as peter starts to peter out. But as someone else put it, "a wank a day keeps the doctor away." Apparently, even some doctors agree with that!

Josh, it is possible, even desireable, to wank each day in order to keep your penile tissues etc healthy. But you don't have to ejaculate. Maybe we could call it a kind of massage. That can be done several times a day, each time you go for a pee.
Just massage your dick after you urinate. See whether or not it starts swelling a bit more as the blood pours into the chambers. That's a good exercise. I think it works well for me.

I use my pump daily. Either to get an erection ready for sex or if i do not anticipate sex, I pump to exercise my penis to improve the health of my penis. Pumping and massaging blood into the head of my penis between pumping sessions, improves the overall health of the penis and works to offset the effects of ED. ie, replaces the need to masturbate and improves the quality of erections.

Two different issues

Postby Josh_14_11 » Wed Dec 08, 2010 10:31 pm

Perhaps my summary of medical research wasn't clear enough. "Use it or lose it" is true in two different ways:

1. Regular erections, whether occurring naturally (e.g., night wood) or being induced artificially (e.g., pumping) help maintain erectile health.

2. Regular ejaculations help maintain ejaculatory function as well as health of the reproductive organs (e.g., the prostate and epididymis).

The two functions can be "exercised" apart from each other. However, if self-induced erections are arousing enough and not relieved at some point, a problem of prostate congestion, etc. can develop.

Or as my wise old Daddy used to say, "It's good; it feels good; and it's good fer ya."
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.
