I use to be a stud muffin. I had thyroid cancer and a bylateral thyroidectomy 25 years ago. My endocrinologist said when you have one endocrine problem you will have multiple endocrine problems. About two years after my surgery I began developing diabetes. After ten more years I began havig ED issues. I was checked and my Testostersone levels were low. I began testostersone replacement theraphy. Then I tried pills and Trimix unsuccesfully. My wife was post menapausal when we got married. She was on hormone replacement theraphy when we were married. Her doctor took her off of hormone theraphy and her sex drive whent out the door. Since having my Implant she has agreed infrequently to have sex with me. She says with my implant inflated she feels like she is being poked with a stick. It puts neither of us in a good mood. The next time I am going to ask can we do it until she get splinters.

Me and my wife have been married for 48 years now. Same for her after menopause her vagina wouldn’t lubricate and I think she was almost glad I had Ed. Now after I got my implant she claims it’s harder and not much give to it anymore.

She bought some lubricant and now she says it’s much more comfortable. I still have to beg for sex but next to the bed is her lubricant.

Sometimes sex stops for uncontrollable reasons. You learn to live without if, and life goes on.

I have diabetes mellitus two and not long ago I had a checkup. In addition to my diabetes, I also have thyroid problems. In addition to the pills I was taking, I was prescribed levothyroxine. But the levothyroxine price makes me a little uncomfortable. Is it better to choose more expensive analogues? Besides, my wife and I are estranged for some reason. I will say that I have no desire after another problematic finding in my body. Can the thyroid, or rather problems with it, affect the desire to have sex? I would like to know your opinion.

Duglas, welcome to the forum.

I wish you luck in your search for answers. Unfortunately I have nothing to offer.

Yes it can. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism over 4 years ago. Even though I have been using the exact same prescription, 75 mcg. of Levithyroxine since then, and my "numbers" are in their "normal" range, I still developed some ED shortly thereafter. My thyroid condition did come from Hashimoto's disease though, an autoimmune disorder, so to say it's directly related to the thyroid itself, I can't. Autoimmune disorders can affect any organ in your body, and can cause multiple symptoms, you need to explore exactly what's causing yours. Sometimes even a lack of iodine can cause a thyroid condition, and once you've supplemented with an iodine treatment it's possible for the thyroid to heal.
As far as the cost of levithyroxine, get a script for a 90-day supply, and try using Good-Rx. Good-Rx is a free app you can download, once downloaded you type in the medicine name, dosage, and number of pills needed, and hit enter. It will give you a list of all the pharmacies in your area, and what that prescription will cost you using their FREE coupon. It doesn't count towards your insurance deductible, but when it's so much cheaper who cares! Give it a go and let me know how you make out.

Forever_Young, I feel for ya.
When I got together with my wife it was only because she wanted sex. Can't say I didn't, but she was the big instigator. I mean I was 36 and she was 19, I had absolutely no sexual intentions towards her. We were co-workers for over a year.
In the year after our first time it was 2 or 3 times a day, before work, after work, bedtime and maybe middle of the night. After we married it kept going until after baby #2. Then it slowed down a little to maybe 4-5 times a week. When the kids got a little older we started experimenting with toys and role play. Problem was one kid was a night owl and the other would be up at the crack of dawn, making it tough to find time. Now we were down to maybe 2-3 times a week. But we had many awesome weekends when our friends would set us up with some nose candy.
Kids got older, wife gets female issues, hysterectomy time. No sex for weeks after surgery. Once she gets ok to resume I'm lucky to get it once a week. Then my ED starts. Life sucks. Took pills and used injections for maybe 10-12 years, and sex just wasn't the same. Scheduled, nothing but a little foreplay and wham bam it's over. Same same every time.
Once I was implanted she was unsure. I definitely wanted to use it as much as possible, but she was not quite up to the task. We fell back into the rut of maybe once a week, same routine as before. BORING. We've talked about it, more than once. She has agreed to change things up. Guess what? Nothing has changed.
Bottom line is I'm just happy we're still together, we love each other, and we still have sex, just not as often as I'd like.

I have been on levothyroxine for decades. No impact on desire or performance for me. My ED developed much later.

Also levothyroxine is a cheap generic. $ 4 for 30 days or $10 for 90 days at my high dosage of 175mcg. Walmart, Costco, you can check goodrx, or the four dollar RX list at walmart.com
