For those with ED it is normal to have anxiety and depression. You are dealing with a very private personal physical and mental issue. It has been my personal experience primary care, Internist, endocrinologist and general urologist are not well informed, or trained to deal with ED. If you are suffering from ED go to a male sexuality specialist. Get the underlying cause for your ED. Get treatment from a true specialist not a egotistical physician without the training, experience and expertise. Get some back bone and take charge, no one is going to do this for you. Do some research for a specialist then further research them with Google Reviews. There were three implant urologist within 50 miles of me. I researched them thoroughly. Two had lousy reviews, one had good reviews. The one with good reviews is the one I choose to do my implant. Yes it was painful in the beginning but has gotten better daily. Yes, I would do it again and only wish I had had it done 4 years sooner. I hope this is both educational and informative.

You can deal with fear, anxiety, and depression, they can be replaced with knowledge, confidence, satisfaction and happiness. Only you can help your self by taking the steps needed to address your issues Start by selecting the right physician or teams of physicians.

Don't go to the VA, unless you can't afford a private doctor.

I picked my Urologist based on a referral from the implant sites. Highly recommend this, as that Doc will have significant experience dealing with ED.

I’m not in a big metro area, so I thought this through. Try-mix injections still working great after 1 year. Just had ache k in with him and we talked about lessening effectiveness of Tri-mix over time. He simply stated that when it comes to that, we’ll do the implant.

Speak for yourself, Martin6469. I interviewed (via email) Drs Eid and Kramer and another few in person and finally selected a surgeon provided by the VA. I selected him because of the interview I had with him. I rejected one VA candidate because of his surgical technique and Dr. Eid and Kramer because of the distance (Alaska to the U.S. East Coast) and the extra work getting authorizations. Dr. Shaw, however, is expert in the procedure and told me, "If I were in private practice, this would be my specialty." He had also taught the procedure, listened to me and acknowledged me as a participating part of my medical care team.

I was lucky to have him (figuratively and literally) fall into my lap.

I do recognize that quality of service does vary widely, depending on which regional VA in which you are enrolled, so I recognize your point.

I thought I had picked correctly, but Dr. Sweeney changed locations and apparently left his knowledge and expertise behind. Sad but true. He went from good to mediocre. So much for his combined MD and PhD degrees. So I'd advise don't go to Marietta Memorial Hospital with men's issues on your mind. Sweeney only practices the basic general urology now. In my opinion he don't seem too good at that either.
