Re: Shaving Your Ball Sack

Golly, you guys shave your sacks? Yuck, not to my liking at all. I had mine shaved for the prostatectomy (years ago) and for the implant (last fall). That was enough of the ball shaving thing for me. My hair is still growing back.. and not fast enough in my opinion. I like hair down there. :D

Re: preoperative tests

Surgeons do not routinely screen for hepatitis or HIV. But, if you are so concerned about it, you should talk with your primary care provider to rule out any such infection. Your surgeon or a primary car provider working with your surgeon will do a basic history and physical with some blood work. It...

Re: Getting discovered: How to tell a woman your bionic

After an hour or two of hot sex with your bionic "everhard" boner, she'll be so happy that you won't have to explain anything!

Re: Today is the day!

God speed for a great surgery experience and quick recovery. For the first day or two, you question your decision (like most of us) due to the grape fruit size of your nut sack and all the swelling. But, hang in there, it all gets better and very much worth the pain and hassle in a few weeks. ...

Uh, no. Is an artificial leg better than a fully functional real one?! Not.

Re: Cath after implant

I feel for you as I had the same experience. I was unable to pee after the procedure as well. In fact they had difficulty inserting the catheter apparently due to a constricture as a result of my prostrate surgery years ago. The surgeon had to dilate me to get the catheter in. That was not a fun exp...

Re: Implant surgeons, Dr. Jason Kovac, Indianapolis, IN

In September I had my implant performed by Dr. Matt Mellon in Indy. I would highly recommend him. He has privileges at U of I hospitals and at the Indy VA, where I went for surgery. He and his chief resident, who's name escapes me at the moment, had an excellent bedside manner, answered all my quest...

Implants and cold weather

I am two months post implant and am still on a learning curve with my new "hardware". As the weather has become colder I have noticed that I seem to be more sensitive to the cold down there. That is I seem to get a cold achy feeling when I dress as I normally would given the outdoor temper...

Re: fear of infection.. how can i repress it???

I don't have a spleen (part of one's immune system) and I was fearful of getting an infection as well. My surgeon had me take an antibiotic for 30-days post op. No infection.

I do understand that the risk is small, but in my case it could have been deadly. Talk to your surgeon about your fears.

Re: Joined the Bionic Brotherhood

Thanks for all the encouraging replies. Tomorrow I return to the VA clinic for my follow up, and hopefully clearance to inflate and deflate the "boner". I have been recovering just fine and have followed my patient instructions faithfully. Before the surgery, I could never have imagined ha...
