Go for it, just stay thoroughly clean till you heal up, anti bacterial soap, continuously washing hands, etc... talk to the surgeon about antibiotics and when he will use them and how long you will be taking them. Some doctors start you out before surgery.

Therre are aq few guys on here with Malleables and they seem to like them very much, Easymoney and the Driver have malleables and they have provided alot of information on here about malleables. Good luck on your surgery.
