Re: FIRST Injection nervousness

I use the 31g needles and greatly prefer them. I use a very strong mono-mix (80mcg.ml alprostabil AKA PGE-1) and rapid injection of the meds hurts. I inject very slowly in little spurts and it's pretty much pain free that way. You can still inject pretty quickly with the 31g if you want.

Re: New Doc & not encouraging

I would not double the dose. IMHO bumping up 10 would be pushing it. I don't think getting the dose sorted out a little earlier is worth the risk of an ER visit. I'd bump up 5 and in a worst case scenario you have a partial stiffie to play with plus you got some practice injecting under your belt, u...

Re: BiMix dose

When guys on this forum talk about units they're talking about U-100 insulin units and the syringes designed to administer it. This is the most common type of insulin measurement and it's associated syringes. However, it's not the only insulin measurement and associated syringes. Some vary greatly f...

Re: Injections versus pump

Take packaging, whatever it is, that shows what the prescribed mix is to your GP. Show it to him/her and tell them the problem and ask him/her to write you a script so you can get it from a cheaper pharmacy. That's pretty much what I did. It has worked twice with two different GPs (The 1st one retir...

Re: sensitivity

Beaux, Welcome to the forum. I'm not a doctor or medical professional of any kind, so there's that. I would certainly consult with your doctor on the issue. I also have some sensitivity issues but I assume mine originates from the nerve damage that occurred as a result of my radical prostatectomy. I...

Re: EDEX

That surprises me. Of course I'm not a doctor so what do I know. It is my understanding that it is more common for a doctor to start someone on Edex or Caverject, both of which are straight alprostadil (PGE-1) and saline and maybe a preservative. If that doesn't get the job don they will move on to ...

Re: Various Questions

I'm not a medical professional of any kind. Anything I post is based on my own experiences, at best, and hallucinations or delusions, at worst. Remember, internet forum advice is often worth exactly what you paid for it. Always ask your doctor and follow his/her advice. Before making any changes, tr...

Re: FIRST Injection nervousness

I use the 31 gauge without problems. Whether or not you need a script depends on your State of residence. In FL a script isn't needed by State law although I guess some localities might require one. Even when legal to purchase some pharmacies might give you some grief without a script. Your doctor s...
