Re: Life span on implants

Well, we will have to agree to disagree I guess. At the end of the day all I have to go on is my own experience with implants. Neither one lasted anywhere near as long as I was led to believe it should (10 yeaars at a minimum, and probably much longer I was led to believe). In fact, the first one de...

Re: How much money should be set aside for a revision?

$10,000 at a minimum. That is what I paid two years ago for my revision (the replacement itself was free, but the surgeon charged me $10,000 for doing the procedure). Just to be clear on this. Re: How much money should be set aside for a revision?

Yes, it covered the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the operating room (not really a hospital).

Re: Life span on implants

The ones whose implants work well and for a long time post frequently on this forum (about how the implant lasts for so many years, how great it is, how much it changed their lives, etc). I suspect a lot of those posters are implant industry shills/promoters (data skewers)...... On the other hand, t...

Re: failure rate: coloplast vs.AMS/Boston Scientific??

What about sticky valve issues? Any studies done comparing the two companies in this regard?

failure rate: coloplast vs.AMS/Boston Scientific??

I am wondering if there has been any unbiased study of the two different implant company failure rates - leaking, pump malfunctions, and so on. Anyone know?

Re: Does it last really 10 years?

My first one leaked/stopped working after 4.5 years, and the replacement stopped working after just 2 years (pump won't reset).

free revision/replacement guarantees??

Which surgeons are offering to waive their fee if a replacement/revision is needed within just a few years? Please note that I'm not talking about the company guaranteeing the device here, but rather the surgeon offering to replace/repair it for free.
