Re: Wish you implanted earlier?

Geoph My ED was abrupt as a result of prostate removal at 56 yo. I got false hope from docs even though nerves were spared unilaterally. I dont think i ever had a chance for natural erections. They asked me to wait 2 yrs. against my better judgement i followed doc orders. Then after 2 years there w...

Re: Should I tell my friends?

I have told both my family and my friends about both my penile implant and my artificial urinary sphincter (AUS). I had a radical prostatectomy when I was 55 and my significant side effects, especially incontinence, were no secret among my family and close friends. So, when I had surgery, I saw no r...

Re: Pre OP and Shaving

About a week or two before I was scheduled to be implanted by Dr. Kramer, I emailed him and asked about various preparations for surgery, including shaving. He wrote back and emphatically stated that I should not shave because of the risk of infection. He said that he would do it on the day of surge...

Re: Enhanced pat down

I have flown frequently since my implant in 2015. Twice I have had questions after going through the enhanced body scanner, both time at Boston Logan in early 2016. The first time I was asked if I had "something" below my waist. I said: Yes, I have a penile implant." The TSA agent loo...

Watch a few of Dr Kramer's videos if you want to see how he measures.

Re: Insurance Coverage.

There are two basic issues regarding insurance coverage. The first issue is whether a policy covers or excludes penile implants. The second is what you need to get approval for an implant if they are covered by the policy. Insofar as the first question is concerned, if you already are covered by a p...

Re: 50% fewer men getting implants now compared to 10 years ago....

It would be interesting to know how many devices AMS and Coloplast sell each year. That would give a much better picture as to how many men are getting implants. I never have seen those numbers and they likely are trade secrets. But, if anyone knows them or how to find them, I would like to see them.

Re: How soon after RP can you get an implant?

I did not have significant ED problems prior to my robotic radical prostatectomy. So, I was in a different position than you are in. But, both the hospital where I had my RP and the health insurance plan I had at the time would not do or pay for a penile implant until at least two years had passed s...

Re: Dr. Kramer, Baltimore

I was implanted by Dr Kramer in November 2015 (AMS CX). I have been very happy with My implant and post surgery communication with Dr Kramer. I may not post as often as some other Kramer patients here on FT or be as effusive with my comments. But, I echo all of the positive things others have writte...

Re: When would you have gotten an implant?

My ED was the result of a radical prostatectomy. So, I am in a different class than those guys who had a more gradual onset of ED. I was implanted 20 months after surgery. I was vigilant with respect to post surgery "penile rehabilitation." Exactly twice I had a semi erection, neither of w...
