Constriction Rings
Constriction rings, or cock rings, as they are more commonly known, are one of the
most overlooked weapons in the arsenal against ED. They exist in a world somewhere
between clinical pumps and porn. It seems Doctors are uncomfortable talking about
them because of this stigma, or perhaps they don't understand their use in treating
ED.
Even the word 'Cock Ring' has that porn shop
sting to it. It may be that porn shops, porn
stars and those kinky neighbors next door
who do weird things on Saturday nights have
dominated the sexual aid world, but these
seemingly insignificant bits of rubber,
leather or steel can be a huge help to those
looking for some simple connubial bliss.
Lube will help with the stimulation. It feels
much better lubed, and it won't chafe the skin.
At times it's going to take some substantial
friction to get things where they need to be.
You may want to have a lubed hand for fun and
a dry hand free to operate the ring.

penis is thicker, engorged with more
blood, in the "after" shot
Hint
As a general rule, when sold with medical
grade pumps, they are known as
constriction rings because that is what they
do - they constrict blood flow out of your
penis to help obtain an erection. If you see
them in a sex shop, on the internet, or
men's magazine, they are referred to as
'cock rings'. They function exactly the same
and for our purposes are same thing. We
will follow suit in order help you keep them
separate.
STOP!
Form or Function?
The vast majority of cock rings on the market are for genital
jewelry, heightened sensations, and added spice to a Saturday
night. For most people they look a little scary (How in the world
do they get that thing on? How in the world do they get that
thing OFF!) For most of us, they go hand in hand (or is that dick
in hand?) with the whole leather, studs, and dominatrix
movement as evinced by the leash cock ring displayed at left.
The fact is, most of the cock rings are worn by very normal guys who have discovered
that a cock ring just gives a little boost as seen in the photo above. Many guys also
use them to help with premature ejaculation.
So, what does a cock ring do for the guy who is battling ED? If you can get an erection
better than 70% (either naturally or with ED Meds), judicious use of a cock ring can
get you to a fully useable erection. It may not be 100%, but it should be penetrable. It
will take some practice but, it is worth it. The nice thing about using a cock ring is
that your partner stimulates you as part of foreplay instead of stopping foreplay to use
a pump, inject or wait while the Meds take effect.
Adjustable Cock Rings and Super Stretch Cock Rings
The rigid metal porn star rings are not adjustable and tend to be not tight enough to
produce an erection, or can be too tight for some men when they are fully erect. Rigid
cock rings really are made for the average guy who wants to surprise his wife on the
anniversary that he forgot anyway - they don't make great tools to combat ED.
The technique: When the penis is semi erect - or in the neighborhood of 70%,
slip on the cock ring. Keep stimulation going. Tighten the cock ring until it pulls
in at the base of the penis. You should see and feel a result almost instantly as
the blood escaping the penis is blocked by the cock ring. Continue stimulation -
often, vigorous stimulation is helpful to speed it up. As the penis engorges,
continue to tighten the cock ring. Continue this pattern until your penis is at a
useable firmness. It will take practice, but it will work. It is strongly suggested
that you work on this technique all by yourself, since a waiting partner could get
a little tired or cold or bored while you fumble around trying to figure things out.
Just as with any constriction ring, do not leave on for longer than 30 minutes. If
it is getting close to that limit, loosen the cock ring and let the blood flow for
several minutes - take a break, let junior breathe. Your penis will go limp, but
you have the technology to bring it back up again after a rest.
Retail Cock Rings
As with anything in life, you get what you pay for. The good news in the world of cock
rings; the most expense ones are still quite low. Over the counter, sex shop models
generally range from $6 to $25 dollars. The variety of cock rings is staggering. Get
one that appeals to you on a sexual level - remember, you're not just a science
project. The following are just a small sample of the ones available. Not ALL of these
are equally able to help with ED. Some are more effective than others.
The latex adjustable cock ring
Sean Michael's
Love Ring
The Clincher
The Lasso
This group of cock rings represents the perfect adjustable cock ring for the beginner.
They are made of surgical rubber tubing for comfort and are easily tightened or
loosened even with limited manual dexterity. Sean Michael is a porn star, in case
you were wondering. The adjuster ball, or sleeve needs to be to the side of the penis
or at the bottom of the penis. The dorsal veins that empty the penis of blood run along
the top of the penis. So, make sure the top of the penis receives the greatest amount
of pressure. All of these rings cost less than $10.
Super Stretch Cock Rings
Made from durable high-quality silicone, these Super Stretch Silicone Cock Rings
will stretch to twice their original size while still being able to return to their normal
diameter. They come in several sizes. They rings on the left can be worn at the base
of the penis, or around the penis and the scrotum. These were recommended by an
FT member. The pink rings are for use at the base of the penis as well as right
behind the head of the penis. The nodules on the rings are great stimulation for your
partner. These will help firm up an already present erection.

Encore Impoaid
These two Penile Accessories do not really fit into the discussion of adjustable cock
rings sine they are not really adjustable or even soft and flexible, but they have an
important feature that may help some men. They both have a protrusion which
pushes down on the dorsal vein of the penis, again, slowing down the blood leaving
the penis.
The plastic clip on the left is slipped onto the base of the penis with the protrusion
pushing down onto the top of the penis. It is popular with men who want ejaculate to
be unimpeded. Some guys do not like the feeling of trapped ejaculate (does not apply
to PCa patients!). It costs less than $5.
The Horseshoe Cock-Ring is far from inexpensive, retailing around $75. But it is the
Cadillac of rings. It can go around your whole package (the most popular), or just the
base of your penis. You measure your penis and they customize by adding the little
black spacer rings. Of all the rings, however, this one is the best as far as having a
basis in science.
The Actis Band, as it is commonly
known, was simply a well engineered
adjustable cock ring - excuse me
-constriction ring. It was actually a
pretty good idea - the bad news: It has
been discontinued. It is here because it
is still in inventory and your doc may
give it to you.

A Final Warning!
Don't Waste Your Money
While it may be tempting to be a do it
yourselfer and putter around the house
looking for something free to help you with
that elusive erection, look at the photo at the
right - and wince. When you think that the
warning about not leaving a ring on for longer
than thirty minutes is stupid, look at this
photo. When you thing that the harmless
household item would make a perfectly fine
cock ring, think again. For the cost of a
hamburger you can purchase the right tool
for the job. Enough said? Enough said.
Encore Impoaid is simply the
constriction rings from the Encore
VED with a sleeve applicator. As you
can see in the photo, the cone is
used to mount the ring on a plastic
sleeve. The penis goes through the
sleeve, and when the erection is
satisfactory, the constriction ring is
slid off the sleeve onto the penis.

These adjustable rings are cheap, don't work terribly well, are painful and can lead to
problems. They are all plastic strings instead of soft surgical rubber. They will cut
into your penis (ouch!) and are difficult to grasp if you have lube or bodily fluids on
your hands. The price seems right, but you get what you pay for. The mechanism on
the Oriental Love Ring simply did not work. The Code Red Power Ring is very similar
except it has a sharp, painful "W" shaped protrusion that digs into your dorsal vein.
