I think men are just really scared of having someone cut into their penis. That and the thought that once you do this.. you can NEVER go back.

And the expense.

There is also a psychological component. Having your own tissues provide the erectaion (even if it must be enhanced by pills, injections, suppositories or even vacuum and constriction rings these measure have the advantage of being YOUR OWN TISSUES. Pills provide a very nearly natural experience for both you and your partner. The psychology of that is very powerful.

Then there is the possibility of a better treatment coming tomorrow. One that actualy CURES E.D. rather than implanting a device.

Some people are turned of or even offended by the the concept of "a dildo inside a penis". A crass description, perhaps, but some people get that image in their thought processes and cannot shake it.

Your very right, this is one aspect I am dealing with right now. Knowing that if I do this it will be an artificial erection rather than a natural one. Does it feel different than a normal physiological erection? With a regular erection you can feel the blood flow... with an implant I'm assuming you don't feel anything... other than pressure against your skin?? I doubt the cure to ED is in the near future.

No Anthony, it’s not at all like that.
There is still blood flow throughout a penis that has implants and the nerves that respond to touch work the same.
Believe me an implanted cock is not “numb” BJ ‘s still feel amazing.

Masturbation still feels awesome and as I think about it, in fact, a whole lot better than when I was struggling to get and keep an erection while I suffered ED.
I still get a partial erection as the action starts with my GF.....I just carefully help it along intermittently by adding a few pumps :D

The reason for me is very simple... I didn't know about them. They are not well advertised. :)

It feels very natural. My wife just loves it. I have had more BJ's in the last 3 months than I have had in MANY YEARS. :)

Agree 200%! If they would be advertising and EDUCATING about their benefits just a fraction of what they do to snake oils on the market, many more people would evaluate them as a real option.

Unfortunately, we live in an age where insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies “own” the medical field. Insurance, as much as we hope they are looking out for our best interests, they really try to do the minimum and not pay out more than they need to. They pretty much force you to prove everything else has not worked. In fact, from what I have read, their are more insurance policies with exclusions for implants.

I fully believe many doctors are getting kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies and it is in their best interests financially to prescribe medications rather than suggest implants. As others stated, there is a huge lack of awareness of the existence of implants. Thank God for FrankTalk and other vehicles for giving us a place to talk about them and our experiences.

I have said this before and will say it again, the decision to get an implant is huge. Each of us has to weigh and balance the pros and cons. For me there came a day when no matter how the results of an implant came out, I felt it would have to be better than have a limp dick the rest of my life. When my natural erections were gone and I had tried everything else, I was ready. I never dwelled on whether or not it would feel natural, but rather how it would allow me to once again have sex with my wife.

My results impress me. I have my size back. I have more sensations than I can recall since my horny teenage years. My orgasms are back and intense. Yes, an implanted cock is not as great as a natural one, but when nature lets you down, it is a Godsend.

Right on the money. Lack of awareness by the suffering public and lack of understanding on the part of too many urologists. If AMS and Coloplast launched ad campaigns like the ones for Viagra and Cialis it would be a different story. Why they don’t baffles me.
