Merry Christmas

Postby Donnie1954 » Mon Dec 25, 2017 9:00 am

My prayers for my brothers to have an awesome Christmas and an incredible 2018. Christmas can be a difficult time for those who have lost loved ones. Our son Joey was 9 when he died of heart failure due to cystic fibrosis on January 10, 1988. It was hard watching him get excited over toys we knew he would never play with. He would be 40 in 2018. Please feel free to share. That's what FT is about. Not just about dicks.

Thanks Donnie,
The hole in your heart never really goes away, does it? We lost our son six and a half years ago. He would have turned 36 in 2018. Holidays always seem to be tougher than normal days, which can still really suck. And having lost your brother this year, this must be an especially difficult time for you and your family.
Thanks for sharing today, and through all of your posts. You have given me much as I struggled with my condition, my decision and my recovery. I know I am not alone in appreciating your contributions.
You're right. There is more to FT and to life than just dicks. But I have to say, having a Dick that works again does make everything else a little ( or a lot) better.
Best wishes to you and all of our brothers and visitors, no matter where they are in their journeys.

Yes, Donnie, I can totally understand where you are coming from. Our daughter, Amy, died in 1989 (age 13) from a rare form of cancer. You never "get over it"; you just adjust. I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas, brother.

Yes,
David _R. There is a hole in your heart that is permanent. You adjust and remind yourself that you will one day see her again. You always feel those arms around you. Joey would hug me and say, "Daddy, please didn't cry, I'll see you in heaven" You and yours have a joyous Christmas time.

My heart goes out to all of you. I can not imagine it. It is difficult enough to lose a parent, a friend, etc, but children should outlive a parent. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I lost both my parents (mom in 1995 and dad in 2012)... although very sad, I just can't imagine losing one of my 3 girls or my wife. My heart aches for those of you that has had to bury a child. :(

Have a great holiday season. :)
