Disregard my questions about the preop tests that Dr Eid performs. I just watch a few of his videos and the reasons behind those tests are explained.

I have my consult scheduled with Dr. EID Sep 14....

Emailed in my paperwork.

Time to get my feet wet....

I should have said mine is a telephone consultation, not an office visit.
I won't schedule until after the consultation, but if all goes well, I'm hoping to have the procedure in early December.

Mine is the same, video consult. I am in California.
I am already planning for mid January surgery. If he isn't available, then I may go for February.
Trying to coincide with work holidays.

two NYC hotel issues:

1) "Time of year to visit new york city and hotel rates"
I was in NYC during february. The bentley hotel was maybe 175 a night. Be sure to ask the Bentley front desk for the "MSKCC" discount. That stands for "memorial sloan kettering cancer center" which is across the street. If they require a note from your doctor, then Dr Eid's office staff can supply something saying that "you are having surgery by specialist Dr Eid on date xyz and that you will be staying at the hotel after surgery." (I know, you will not be at MSKCC, but I think it is morally close enough).
For me, I booked three months in advance, and got a rate better than the MSKCC discount. Curiously, NYC hotel rates are really high in autumn, and seem low during the winter months. Also, if the money is a big factor, try the affinia gardens instead of the Bentley.

2) "having food available"
If you have a wife or significant other in your hotel, then this is a non-issue; but, if you are alone, you will need to plan something so that you can have food delivered to you. The Bentley has great room service for breakfast, but not for lunch/dinner. I presume that there must be some sort of meal delivery service in NYC that you can use, and this is something that you should look into if you are alone. By the way, Dr Eid's office will help set you up with a "medical escort" which is a person which meets you at the hospital and then dumps you into the hotel room safe and sound. This is a requirement if you do not have someone with you.

Thank you Tangerine.... good info.
So food will be an issue. I will probably be alone.
I will have to check into it.

Refrigerator in the room?
Maybe bread and items for sandwiches..
plus drinks.

Plan, plan :)

I'm scheduled with Eid for surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital which I understand is the outpatient surgery center. So even though I'm on Medicare I'm not being sent to the Lennox Hill Hospital. There is a day between the consultation and surgery as you said. Does this agree with what other medicare patients are doing?
